Has iTunes match gone haywire?

My music artists are all over the place, I noticed it this morning. Just out of blue on all my iOS devices. It makes no difference if the metadata matches for artist, album artist, sort by artist, sort by album artist, ensure compilation is unticked. Many songs are coming up in strange places on the artists view in the iOs devices. Lots of entries under various artists popping up. I have a list of cliff Richard four times under artist as an example - its just crazy. Happened out of nowhere. I only really noticed earlier as back to work started listening to my songs but ic ould of been at the weekend it went all wrong. My iTunes library is perfectly sorted. anyone else seeing strange entries crop up amid their artist list. Could the impending Apple Music be wreaking havoc with match?

Something is seriously wrong with it. All iOS devices are showing split artists despite perfect metadata. I even checked the artist list in iTunes view and they display correctly on here. Adam and the Ants as example shows FOUR times. A single album is split under the four listings. in iTunes I just highlighted all the songs to ensure I re-edited the artist and album artist correctly and was exactly the same. I also ensure compilation was unticked, yet no diff.

restarting match on the ios devices makes no diff either.

It seems we are all in agreement; our existing

iTunes Match libraries we have perfected over

years has been compromised as Apple tries to

improve our music experience. Should we not

want the new Apple Service, the integrity of our

Library as ITunes Match subscribers should

be that of what it was prior to this last week. It

might be that most of us will feel that our recent

Problems aren't worth the pudding of Apple Music.

Summarizing, all uploaded material by us loyal

ITunes Match subscribers have best be nice &

organized just as it was.

Do yourself a favour my friend - if you haven't checked your Apple TV, then don't - you'll just depress yourself.

I use the iPad for streaming music in the house, and an iPod with just favourites on it for the car. I have my full library of about 14500 songs on iCloud, and all of these are also on my iPod Classic. Occasionally I use Apple TV to listen to music, simply because it's there, and the TV has a Bose speaker attached to it also.

For now, I'm just going to use either my recently purchased 1990s Technics component system, the iPod Classic / Bose speaker combo, or just the MacBook. I'll download and install 8.4 in a few days once initial demand has subsided, and see how things are after that, rather than spending hours in front of a screen trying out fixes, speaking to Apple etc - time I could spend refurbishing another classic bicycle!

After spending the bulk of today on this subject,

I've got a good idea how this all works. Apple

Music will act as a iTunes Match service for

anyone who isn't already subscribed to iTunes

Match. Their existing libraries will be uploaded

just as ours once was. Should anyone opt out

of the new $9.99 service, their only music is

that purchased from Apple. No burned CD's, etc

So I'm curious if it will take many updates to

restore order. After all, it wasn't until the last

8.3 update when I could again add songs to a

Playlist located within a FOLDER. You know.

I'm with ya man. My Artists and Albums are so messed

up, I can only use playlists I've created. As you inferred,

I might as well break out my Technics component I got

at Pacific Stereo. Excessive? Maybe, but at least I would

not have Joan Jett playing with Beethoven. And you gotta

love how so many artists are bunched into the Various

Artists category. ITunes match should not move backward

just so Apple Music can move forward.

Sadly, it's got to a point I dread every Apple update they release nowadays. Whether it be an iOS update or an iTunes update I always feel like it's playing Russian roulette as to what they might ruin next. I'm all for new features but not when it breaks functionality. I suspect when iOS 8.4 hits later on it will bring some order to this mess. But I suspect I'm not going to like they layout of the music app and there could be some other nasty side effects. Change for the sake of change but that's just my thoughts.

I did start the same thread on Mac Rumours a few days ago. Although I am not sure how to push it further along. The forum over there doesn't seem as active but at least Apple cannot doctor or remove our posts on it. I was hoping it gather some more momentum than it has

Just got two subsequent phone calls with apple Support, neither of the employees would acknowledge the problem (and hence wanted to bill me 29€ for support, since I am out of warranty coverage)

i advice EVERYONE on this forum who has the same problem to call apple support if you haven't done it yet and explain the problem. They don't pay attention to forums, so the only way that they will acknowledge this is if enough people call.

I Think you can ask for them to call you back right here : https://getsupport.apple.com/ServiceOptionAction.do

Please do this everyone!

I dread every new release now too.

To be honest, if 8.4 doesn't fix this issue, I'm going to consider biting the bullet and looking into a different system for my music. I know it will take a long time to set up, but to be honest, I'm not sure that Apple deserve my perseverance any more. Problem is, if you want something that integrates your music collection on phones, mp3 players, tablets, cloud etc, options to iTunes seem to be a bit limited. As I said, I use an iPod in the car, I have music on my iPhone, I use iCloud / iTunes Match to stream music at home, and then there's Apple TV. My whole library is on the Mac. I don't know of any other system with that kind of integration potential.

If only they'd stop breaking it. I swotched from PC to Mac because I was told - 'It all just works! Emm..... NO....

Just wanted to say I am having the same issue. Just upgraded from 8.1 last week and am SOOOOOOO regretting it! Unfortunately there is no way to go back. My library is fine on my Mac, PC, and iOS8.1 iPad 2. My 8.3 iOS devices are totally messed up to the point I can't even use my music library. I do not want 8.4 either so hopefully they just fix the issue on their end.

I'm patiently waiting for iOS 8.4 too. My iMatch library has been a mess too. I read the new terms and condition of iTunes and it's disgusting! iMatch subscription is sold as "As is" service. Remember the last time anyone purchased an "As is" product? Garbage! I'll post a screen shot below. I'm strongly considering another music service. Does anyone recommend another music service similar to iMatch that performs better? Thanks!
