Has iTunes match gone haywire?

My music artists are all over the place, I noticed it this morning. Just out of blue on all my iOS devices. It makes no difference if the metadata matches for artist, album artist, sort by artist, sort by album artist, ensure compilation is unticked. Many songs are coming up in strange places on the artists view in the iOs devices. Lots of entries under various artists popping up. I have a list of cliff Richard four times under artist as an example - its just crazy. Happened out of nowhere. I only really noticed earlier as back to work started listening to my songs but ic ould of been at the weekend it went all wrong. My iTunes library is perfectly sorted. anyone else seeing strange entries crop up amid their artist list. Could the impending Apple Music be wreaking havoc with match?

Something is seriously wrong with it. All iOS devices are showing split artists despite perfect metadata. I even checked the artist list in iTunes view and they display correctly on here. Adam and the Ants as example shows FOUR times. A single album is split under the four listings. in iTunes I just highlighted all the songs to ensure I re-edited the artist and album artist correctly and was exactly the same. I also ensure compilation was unticked, yet no diff.

restarting match on the ios devices makes no diff either.

This is madness

ITunes match no longer usable. My iphone is displaying wrong artists/wrong album art, splitting albums into several albums and this is just on my phone, on my mac itunes match downloads empty files when I download from the cloud, many albums have just vanished like this and others simply missing artwork. I am very particular and everything is tagged and album art applied. thankfully good old hard drive came to the rescue as I had deleted all songs off mac for space. I wonder now if it's ever gonna be trustworthy, how long til it corrupts songs on my mac. this also started for me 2-3 days before ios 8.4 update. Apple really need to sort this.

Contacted Apple today, spoke with several people, all asking me if I signed up to Apple Music? Cause of the problem maybe? Anyway a technician has informed me that he has never heard of this problem before😁 but he will look into it. So if in the unlikely event I get some helpful advice I'll post it here. Can't see apple changing the music app though, they never back down. Shame that I now find it difficult to listen to music because it's such a chore😠😠😠. P.s. anyone know if it's possible to update mac software without updating itunes?

As I said, I spent a lot of the day on Saturday attending to this. I didn't do any updates on my MacBook, however something happened automatically, as the button changed to the new look, and all references to iTunes Match disappeared. I synced all the iPods and the iPhone after that, and have had no issues with them - BUT - I don't stream music to any of these devices, so they don't use iTunes Match anyway.

My iPad, which I have never synced with iTunes on the Mac, is used to stream from iCloud, and there are no issues with that either. No split albums, no missing album art, nothing. The only issue I have now is with Apple TV. Split albums, odd art work - you name it - it's happening. There is no software update available for it, and it is pretty much unuseable in its current form.

I would say at this point that I have NOT signed up to Apple Music, nor will I be doing so. If that is ever forced on me, I'm off to Amazon Music, and their Cloud service, and back to Microsoft for everything else.

Next time you speak to the 'I've never heard of that before' brigade at Apple, point them towards the last few pages of this thread.

Same problem here with Apple TV 2nd and 3rd Generation. My guess is Apple is working on bringing Apple Music to the Apple TV and haven't had a chance to get the update out yet. Hopefully soon. I'm hoping they also release the update to 2nd generation Appje TVs. In the past they usually don't release updates for the older generations. But in this case I think they need to. Also, I hope they update the Appke TV 2nd generation to include Youtube again while they are at it. Not happy YouTube was removed instead of including an update.

Has anyone who uses a laptop (MacBook Pro Retina in my case) noticed a problem with the "Account" link that appears on the iTunes menu bar now that Apple Music has launched? I can't get a link to iTunes Match to try to reboot it; something I am told to do by prompts when I try to upload songs back into iCloud (I lost several thousand songs when I switched from my desktop to my laptop as my primary computer). A respondent over on the iTunes community support page suggested going to iTunes Match community members, so my question is: should I re-install iTunes completely to get the "old" Store link back (that's where the "iTunes Match" link used to be)?

After speaking to an apple technician today whose advice was update devices(which i didn't as don't want apple music app/new itunes) then try turning itunes match off then on again from all devices. I switched off itunes match from macbook and other devices then turned back on, album/artists/artwork now seem correct on iphone/ipad/appletv, though still waiting to see if itunes match downloads apparently empty unplayable files with no artwork (I say apparently empty, because if I edit extension to .mp3 the files play but with no artwork), anyway so far so good. Had to try turning itunes match on/off a couple of times for it to 'seemingly' work.

Thanks for the advice on how to "restore" iTunes Match after the launch of Apple Music. I read several articles on Google about this issue, and it seems that Apple wants to "encourage" the use of the new service; hence the "bugs" that no one was warned about on the "old" iTunes Match. I decided to sign up for the 90-day free trial, and see if that helps. I still have to manually reload songs that had been deleted from my iCloud account under the old system, which was my main concern at this point. Guess it remains to be seen if Apple Music is upgraded to eliminate the headaches that so many people have had.

HAHa!!!

well unfortunately, I am unable to turn off iTunes Match and turn it back on again on the MacBook, because as I switched the ******* on after Apple Music was launched, all references to Match disappeared. looked in the iTunes Store where some threads suggested to go - not there either. So I have to live with this Apple TV mess forever.

I will not be bullied into using Apple music by these ******* control freaks. I'd rather take the hit, sell the lot and start again with Amazon or someone else.

I am disgusted with Apple's 'screw you' attitude to its customers.

Arrogant, self serving ********.
