Has iTunes match gone haywire?

My music artists are all over the place, I noticed it this morning. Just out of blue on all my iOS devices. It makes no difference if the metadata matches for artist, album artist, sort by artist, sort by album artist, ensure compilation is unticked. Many songs are coming up in strange places on the artists view in the iOs devices. Lots of entries under various artists popping up. I have a list of cliff Richard four times under artist as an example - its just crazy. Happened out of nowhere. I only really noticed earlier as back to work started listening to my songs but ic ould of been at the weekend it went all wrong. My iTunes library is perfectly sorted. anyone else seeing strange entries crop up amid their artist list. Could the impending Apple Music be wreaking havoc with match?

Something is seriously wrong with it. All iOS devices are showing split artists despite perfect metadata. I even checked the artist list in iTunes view and they display correctly on here. Adam and the Ants as example shows FOUR times. A single album is split under the four listings. in iTunes I just highlighted all the songs to ensure I re-edited the artist and album artist correctly and was exactly the same. I also ensure compilation was unticked, yet no diff.

restarting match on the ios devices makes no diff either.

I have over 20,000 songs up loaded via i tunes match and everything was working hunky dory until yesterday. Since updating to 12.2 and 8.4 on my phone it has went radio rental.

I Tunes match has now vanished from the phone and from I tunes.

I go to look at the music from my i tunes account on the computer and I for example have 16 cocteau twins albums.

Not one shows up in my library on my phone.

It seems as though thousands of songs and hundreds of albums have vanished.

I have one playlist called best new mp3 which has 326 songs on it, except in my phone it says i only have the option for 175 songs to download?

Apple have just destroyed my i tunes match account, i don't know where to start to get this music back and I don't know where to look to see what is missing.

They have took my money and messed up my account and wasted hours and hours of my time when i upload my library to i tunes match.

They better get this sorted pronto, a £$%%^ unfunny joke!

Things will improve for you. I felt the same but soon noticed many

nice enhancements to the music experience. It's much easier to

manage playlists now and add songs. Also, the playlist now include

album artwork we lost after ios7. And no more leaving the App &

going to settings to show your off-line music only. This feature is

now conveniently located at the bottom of the drop down menu is used

to change Artists, Albums or Genre Views. The radio experience will

be nice when adapted to. Beats 1 will be a success.

Yes indeed, all my artists and albums are nicely grouped together and that includes album

Artwork as well. The minor drama was well worth the enhancements made by Apple. Even

my playlist titles are accompanied with album artwork now. And the new off-line setting is now

located within the App versus in settings. This allows quick access to only that music which has

been downloaded to my device. I'm also enjoying Beats 1 radio as well.

Yes, albums are grouped nicely again. Still, as I reported earlier, there still are some annoyances:

FIRST, Alpha order in Artists view in iTunes 12.2 (I'm reattaching the screen shot I provided earlier). Below is an example of before and after updating to iTunes 12.2 (NOTE: I didn't change any of the metadata; the incorrect order appeared automatically after the update)

BEFORE: John Barry, John Coltrane, John Coltrane & Johnny Hartman, John Doe, John Doe And The Sadies, John Lee Hooker, John Lennon, John Lurie, John Morris

AFTER: John Doe, John Barry, John Morris, John Lurie, John Lennon, John Coltrane, John Coltrane & Johnny Hartman, John Doe And The Sadies, John Lee Hooker

This out of order business happens throughout my list of some 400 artist. I've reported it, but no response. Perhaps someone here can look closely at their libraries to verify this is happening to them as well.

SECOND: On my iOS devices, and on my second Mac — all of which sync Music through iTunes Match — many, many covers are simply missing. This happens only with (some of) the music I ripped personally from CD. And Yes, these albums, including cover, are in the iTunes Store, and Yes, in my "master library," they downloaded automatically from iTunes AFTER adding the albums to my library.

Apart from these two annoyances, everything is fine on my end.

Overall, I like the updates; there are some quirks (as others have reported) such as the iTunes Match item no longer showing in any of the menus; instead it's now in the iTunes Store on the sidebar; clicking it shows the familiar Add This Computer screen, but when you click, nothing seems to happen (even though somehow the computer appears to be added to the cloud, which you can verify by switching to the Song view in your library and turning on the iCloud Status column.

Same here. Music is usable on my iOS devices -- although a lot of album art is seriously messed up -- but Apple TV and the Remote iOS app are still completely useless. Disaggregated albums, mismatched artists and album art, as before. Signing out of iTunes and then back in, restarting ATV, etc. obviously didn't do anything. Please tell me it won't be like this till the fall ...

OK - I spent most of my valuable Saturday afternoon attending to my MacBook, iPhone, iPods and iPad. iTunes seemed to update itself on the Mac, and once that happened, ALL mention of iTunes Match had disappeared. Took a while to work out what was happening - so bought a song on my iPhone, which updated Match as expected, Then ripped a CD. This did not automatically update iCloud / Match, but I could highlight the songs, then right click and 'Add to iCloud Music'.

A while later, I discovered that in order to update iTunes Match, you now have to File>Library>Update iCloud Music Library, which for me anyway, worked with no issues. iPods / iPhone all synced with iTunes, no problem.

iPad is working fine streaming from iCloud now - no multiple listings for the same album, all artwork OK.

Apple TV however, still has issues, and the libraries remain fragmented there - I have several duplicate albums, all holding different songs from the same album. I don't think Apple have worked out how to fix this yet.

This has all been a bit traumatic, and has wasted many hours of my life that I'll never get back. Apple need to do more testing on their software before releasing it - they are acting like bloody amateurs. Communication needs to improve too - decent communication goes a long way - tell us if there's a problem, and keep us up to date. Some day, someone will bring out a viable alternative to all this - and I'll be very, very interested to see what they have to say.
