Has iTunes match gone haywire?

My music artists are all over the place, I noticed it this morning. Just out of blue on all my iOS devices. It makes no difference if the metadata matches for artist, album artist, sort by artist, sort by album artist, ensure compilation is unticked. Many songs are coming up in strange places on the artists view in the iOs devices. Lots of entries under various artists popping up. I have a list of cliff Richard four times under artist as an example - its just crazy. Happened out of nowhere. I only really noticed earlier as back to work started listening to my songs but ic ould of been at the weekend it went all wrong. My iTunes library is perfectly sorted. anyone else seeing strange entries crop up amid their artist list. Could the impending Apple Music be wreaking havoc with match?

Something is seriously wrong with it. All iOS devices are showing split artists despite perfect metadata. I even checked the artist list in iTunes view and they display correctly on here. Adam and the Ants as example shows FOUR times. A single album is split under the four listings. in iTunes I just highlighted all the songs to ensure I re-edited the artist and album artist correctly and was exactly the same. I also ensure compilation was unticked, yet no diff.

restarting match on the ios devices makes no diff either.

This is madness

Well the good news is that it seems to have fixed the problems on the iPad after 8.4 upgrade. Haven't tried the iPhone yet. and at first glance the Music app in 8.4 looks OK - different but not too bad. They've changed the UI quite a bit but they had to do that to build Apple Music into it - you might find that dominates the UI a bit - all the icons on the bottom relate to Apple Music. But on the whole it's not too bad IMO.

However - and I'm hoping this will resolve itself if I update iTunes Match from my PC or Mac - at least half the cover art from my albums is gone. I'd spent considerable time updating album cover art for all my music and used Supersync to check every track had an album image. It's possible this is still updating so I will give it some time before I try updating from the PC ... But missing album art at present. Any others withe this problem?

Banksy11: Yeah I agree the new app isn't bad and there are some good new features - the filter to show only downloaded music is nice.

My album art is slowly coming right so I think that's just a downloading in background issue after re-enabling Music match. One thing I noticed was in Album view it was sorting by artist name rather than album name - but that's a preference setting in Settings>Music that you can toggle. otherwise things look pretty good.

Apple: for future reference you could have saved an enormous amount of angst by simply posting a note in this thread letting people know that there was an issue that would be resolved with OS8.4 - that it was a known issue and would be resolved soon. Staying completely silent on the issue - and worse removing posts from this thread did you now favours at all. You are dealing with a community of people who love their music and in the main are passionate fans of Apple products. So give them the respect of letting them know you understand their frustration, that you are working on fixing the issue and that you are listening. If you'd done that this whole thread would have had a totally different tone - instead of the intense frustration expressed by many who wasted hours re-tagging music, refreshing iTunes etc to try and fix a problem they had no control over.

After some initial hiccups following the iOS and OS X iTunes updates, things are largely working fine: I can access my iCloud (iTunes Match) library on my devices. Albums are no longer split. The only issues I'm experiencing are: (1) missing album covers, from albums I ripped from CDs (not purchased through iTunes); the covers show up in my iTunes library on OS X, but they don't show up on my iPhone 5s and iPad Air 2, and on my Apple TV almost all covers are missing; (2) idiosyncratic alphabetization (see attached screen shot): looks like iTunes no longer is able to properly alphabetize list of artists. Artist list is randomly out of order throughout. Otherwise, things are fine.

ITunes match no longer usable. My iphone is displaying wrong artists/wrong album art, splitting albums into several albums and this is just on my phone, on my mac itunes match downloads empty files when I download from the cloud, many albums have just vanished like this and others simply missing artwork. I am very particular and everything is tagged and album art applied. thankfully good old hard drive came to the rescue as I had deleted all songs off mac for space. I wonder now if it's ever gonna be trustworthy, how long til it corrupts songs on my mac. this also started for me 2-3 days before ios 8.4 update. Apple really need to sort this.

Lots of examples of artwork being changed for individual tracks within an album. So, on the surface, the album artwork looks fine, but on closer inspection.... I've manually fixed all the ones I've found, but with 18000 songs, I guess I deal with more examples as they crop up over time.

Otherwise, the new match seems to work & actually looks better! Hope no more glitches appear. Still nervous!

I can't seem to turn on Itunes Match after updating Itunes to 12.2.0.

I press "Add this computer" and then nothing happens. Nothing.

And my library in my iPhone is still totally messed up.

Several entries for artists, solo artists showing up near their former bands and former bands near the solo artists (Ace Frehley near Kiss etc.).

We should not talk about album art - every other song has the wrong album art.

Guys and gals, you may need to do the steps outlined below to get your music libraries in sync. I know it worked for me.

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7104446

1) Log out of iTunes (Account > Sign Out)

2) Quit iTunes

3) Launch iTunes. Re-login to iTunes by going to the For You tab and logging in through Apple Music.

After you go through these steps, let the updating to your iCloud Music Library finalize (notice syncing loop in top right corner of iTunes window). It is then that you will see your album covers and tracks available for streaming through iTunes on your Mac.

I have tried this. I have tried several other things. I have talked to a guy on the Apple support.

Nothing works.

This latest update of Itunes and the introduction of Apple Music have done one thing; created a fervent supporter for Spotify. I'm getting really sick with Apple. And it pains me that I threw out my old iPods. I could have used them now.

Any news about the AppleTV update? I've just found an article on the web saying that the Apple Music updates for Android and AppleTV will come this fall. If this is true we will be in big trouble. I can't use iTunes Match at all on my AppleTV with the mess that Apple Music has created in my library.

On my iPhone and iPad the libraries look good again after the iOS8.4 update. I really hate the changes on the Music app. I've lost the covers view, all the Genius features and all the radios except Beats 1 give errors outside of USA. But at last my library can be used.
