Has iTunes match gone haywire?

My music artists are all over the place, I noticed it this morning. Just out of blue on all my iOS devices. It makes no difference if the metadata matches for artist, album artist, sort by artist, sort by album artist, ensure compilation is unticked. Many songs are coming up in strange places on the artists view in the iOs devices. Lots of entries under various artists popping up. I have a list of cliff Richard four times under artist as an example - its just crazy. Happened out of nowhere. I only really noticed earlier as back to work started listening to my songs but ic ould of been at the weekend it went all wrong. My iTunes library is perfectly sorted. anyone else seeing strange entries crop up amid their artist list. Could the impending Apple Music be wreaking havoc with match?

Something is seriously wrong with it. All iOS devices are showing split artists despite perfect metadata. I even checked the artist list in iTunes view and they display correctly on here. Adam and the Ants as example shows FOUR times. A single album is split under the four listings. in iTunes I just highlighted all the songs to ensure I re-edited the artist and album artist correctly and was exactly the same. I also ensure compilation was unticked, yet no diff.

restarting match on the ios devices makes no diff either.

This is madness

AAdd me to the list. Selected artists it seemed to affect in my library. For example, it doesn't seem to like U2's Beautiful Day being tied to U2. i have a whole bunch of stuff, including U2 music tied to Robert Palmer on my iPad and Planetshakers on my iPhone. It doesn't even get the data to match between devices. I'm also not convinced that 8.4 is going to fix this mess.

People who think iTunes isn't messed up on their computer, don't be so certain.

I don't have a mac, but on my PC, although the albums appear to be OK in itunes, on closer inspection some of the artwork has been changed. Also, scrolling through some albums track by track, the artwork often changes from song to song! Crazy.

I daren't sync my ipod, as I'm sure the next thing to go will be Cover Flow.

What is going on Apple???

WHY NO NEWS ON THIS?

Spent a while on apole support , with both level one and the senior advisor .

The rep didn't acknowledge the issue more than only " just me".

started pursuing changing the tracks "album artist" label on my Mac , as he believed it was an issue with the "group by album artist" option.

The call cut out and I didn't bother phoning back.

When BB King is listed next to Metallica with a song called "Inside the the fire" and a picture of a Vengaboys cover as the album artwork...

... Yeah it's not a user error.

apple.. dont insult my intelligence and the hours I have spent troubleshooting

Just noticed this issue today as well. Pretty much everything in my music libary is messed up now.

Artists are mixed up, covers are randomly exchanged, albums are split up.

I don't like the new music player from iOS 8.4 either, so I originally planned to stay with iOS 8.3 for a while. I though about deactivating iTunes Match and returning to the old school cable sync, but the iTunes libary on my Mac is just as f**ked up. It has taken so many hours to tag all my music files correctly and now everything is just a mess - I can't put into words how annoyed I am right now. 😠

So here's where I'm at. Tracks on the PC iTunes (12.1.2.27) are all fine. Tracks on both iPad and iPhone (OS8.3) are badly (and sometimes hilariously) screwed up - who knew Edith Piaf had worked with the Clash? Anyone?

But I also have a Macbook Air on which I'd nuked the iTunes library completely. So I created a totally new library from scratch. When I added my iTunes account, it successfully showed me all my iTunes purchases - clean and uncorrupted. And when I turned on iTunes Match, it shows me a correct/clean copy of my music in the cloud.

So that's slightly promising? On the downside, attempting to refresh iTunes Match on the Macbook gives me an error code 4010 every time. I tried a fix I'd seen in another forum for this - which is to update genius and try again - but that didn't work this time around. So perhaps the iTunes team is preparing for the rollout of 8.4 and Apple Music and the services are actually down or limited.

Anyway - doesn't seem like much we can do until 8.4 rolls out.

Incidentally AussieGrit - what was it about 8.4's Music App you didn't like? And did you have similar problems on that as on the 8.3 version. One post in this thread suggested that 8.4 had the same issues as 8.3 (at least in the beta version anyway)?

And are you also saying that the Match has screwed up the meta data on your Mac as well as on your iDevice? Is your data correct anywhere?
