Has iTunes match gone haywire?

My music artists are all over the place, I noticed it this morning. Just out of blue on all my iOS devices. It makes no difference if the metadata matches for artist, album artist, sort by artist, sort by album artist, ensure compilation is unticked. Many songs are coming up in strange places on the artists view in the iOs devices. Lots of entries under various artists popping up. I have a list of cliff Richard four times under artist as an example - its just crazy. Happened out of nowhere. I only really noticed earlier as back to work started listening to my songs but ic ould of been at the weekend it went all wrong. My iTunes library is perfectly sorted. anyone else seeing strange entries crop up amid their artist list. Could the impending Apple Music be wreaking havoc with match?

Something is seriously wrong with it. All iOS devices are showing split artists despite perfect metadata. I even checked the artist list in iTunes view and they display correctly on here. Adam and the Ants as example shows FOUR times. A single album is split under the four listings. in iTunes I just highlighted all the songs to ensure I re-edited the artist and album artist correctly and was exactly the same. I also ensure compilation was unticked, yet no diff.

restarting match on the ios devices makes no diff either.

YYeah I don't think it'll fix it even when it eventually delivers. The support guys need to forget all the switch off and on steps and actually accept the screw up is on apples server side. They need to push this onto specialist software guys. Even if they came back and said 'yes it's messed up due to apple music changing the dynamics and the upgrade to iOS 8.4 will fix it'. But to demy knowledge and say nothing is inexcusable . The problem is very real and has nothing to do with the user and everything to do with Apple

Ok, having wasted my time with Apple Support yesterday and in finally getting put through to a Senior Advisor I was then cut off.

I have persevered today and have spoken at length to a Senior Advisor who again was not aware of the issue. I have pointed her in the direction of this discussion. I have a case number and the issue has been put through to 'Engineering' I should have further updates by Wednesday at the latest......apparently.

Off to Tweet Tim Cook as well... gotta get this sorted.

Now escalated to an engineer..:should have a call by Thursday at the latest. Interestingly the guy dealing with my case mentioned that since I had called this morning he had had another few people call in with the same issue. He then mysteriously stated that 'you may find this all sorts itself out by Tuesday'....which is when the IOS 8.4 is due to launch

Hi, just thought I'd be another to add to this post with exact same issues and "symptoms" as everyone else. Mac is fine it's purely iPad and iPhone related all on 8.3 will await 8.4 to see. I have noticed aswell a few things which no one seems to have mentioned which is that when I turn iTunes Match off on my iPhone but keep show all music on and it shows albums I have bought from iTunes Store some albums are even split then. Which suggest meta data corruption somewhere?? I'm really no expert.

Also, I have found (and this is long winded process) but using MP3 Tagger and Metadatics. If I delete an album which is splitting on IOS devices from iTunes Match from my Mac and wait a few seconds, it then disappears off my devices (as standard) if I then make a copy of the folder (so I now have two copies of each track on my Mac.) I take one folder and drop the files into either mp3 Tagger or Metadatics and wipe them of all meta data. Then I drag these un tagged songs back into iTunes and let them upload to the cloud via iTunes Match in the unknown album state they will appear on my iPhone as just song titles with not metadata. Then once these are showing on my iOS devices I open the folder the untagged songs are in and I drag and drop the copied versions from the other folder (which still have all metadata on them) to this folder and select replace files when it asks. Then back to itunes and if click on the unknown songs with no album they will all suddenly jump to the album they are from (as itu we now associated them with the tagged songs so it knows what tags they have) after a few seconds these songs are then on my iOS device fully tagged like they were and no longer split.

I do not intend to do this to the hundreds of songs which are now all wrong (I will see what 8.4 brings) but just thought I'd mention that this "work around" seems to fix the issue (I hope I have explained it correctly and clearly) but I find it interesting that this seems to fix it and clear the bad corrupted meta data.

This forum chat has been amazing with everyone contributing and hopefully pushing apple to solve it!

I'm having the same issue, my macbook is working fine, but my iOS devices on 8.3 artists are fully scrambled, various artists and normal artists, matched music, purchased music. Spent all morning on the phone to apple, had help from a technician, even remotely accessed my mac, but couldn't fix it....

He never mentioned that others had the same problem, he said I quote, "I've never heard of this issue before", now I'm thinking he wasn't quite telling me the truth!

Anyway, I'm glad this thread exists, has put my mind at rest that I'm not the only one as I've been, deleting, rebooting, resetting, switching things off and on all day to no avail....

How long do we wait until we can begin to get a partial refund on the iTunes match service?
