Mac mini gone crazy after 10.10.3 update

Hi.

My 2012 Mac mini (which I bought on April 1st 2013) has been working just fine since I bought it, even with public betas of OS X (so far, just OS X Yosemite Beta). But with the "stable" 10.10.3 update, it all went downhill. I get random reboots almost every day, wi-fi problems, impossibility to wake up from sleep, impossibility to boot if ANY USB 3.0 peripheral is plugged in (even my USB 3.0 self powered hub). I also had the pixel flickering problem for a few days but it seems to be fixed now.

I re-installed a fresh copy of 10.10.3, and reimported my data from a Time Machine backup, the problems are still there. Then I re-installed AGAIN and copied my data manually from a TM backup, same problems are still there. I even *tried* installing the latest public beta of OS X 10.10.4 to see if the problem was fixed but my Mac rebooted twice within an hour. So now I am on OS X 10.10.3 with all these issues and I must say it's a very frustrating problem when you have a€400 PC Laptop on Windows 8.1 working better (but not faster) than a €1200 Mac mini on (supposedly) the "most advanced Operating System".

From what I saw here, I know I'm not alone.

If anyone can help, thanks in advance.

The problem isn't the RAM! There are several threads on this and other forum, speaking about issues introduced from Yosemite 10.10.3 on: graphic glitches and cold restart. I've had two appointments in two different Apple Store and two genius checked that my hardware was PERFECT (both times)! It's a software problem in GPU drivers: all Mac machines having Intel HD Graphics 4000 have these issues!

Here some examples of threads:

I haven't had any of the problems you mention on a 2012 MBP and 2012 Mac Mini.

Have you upgraded to 10.10.4, which is the latest version? I would definitely check for updates to the Paragon NTFS software: The panic log does seem to point towards a filesystem issue.

Obviously! I tried with 10.10.3 and 10.10.4 and in both cases the problem occurs. I've installed the last firmware 1.8, as well.

If I install Yosemite 10.10.2 all is perfect!!!

The reports of this bug are coming from a variety of circles and configurations, so that the probability that it is "some app" is pretty small. I have two Late 2012 Minis, a 16gb i7 and an 8gb i5, both running 10.10.5. The i5 is running more or less fine but is not experiencing these panics nor screen glitches. There are several threads now reporting on this issue and still no word from Apple. This is all reminding me of the bad old days of OS9, which typically involved at least three or four complete restarts every day.

I bought the i7 and maxed the RAM so I would have a FAST machine. Each panic is costing me at least 15 minutes of productivity every time it happens. The restart process is ridiculously slow.

I am also having this same issue on my Mac Mini (Mid 2011). Well I should say "I had been having this same issue". 3 days ago I upgraded to El Capitan 10.11.1 and have not (knock on wood) experienced what I had been. When it was happening I took photos of my screen and also a video of the noise it was making coming from the computer. Once in the middle of the night, my husband and I heard an awful racket coming from the office. Sure enough it was my Mac Mini making an really loud noise. I had to force shut down.

I ran the hardware test, which showed nothing. BUT yesterday while I had the computer on, (I was not looking at the computer at the time) I heard my computer shut off and turn it self back on. Not sure what is happening, but this is the first issues I have had with my mac mini since I bought it.

So I am keeping my fingers crossed this issue is gone. I'm really surprised Apple has not acknowledge this issue.
