I was sent a disguised page where i put in my email address and password, although I think it was an attempt to hack into social networking sites still I'm worried if my mac could have been hacked?
It was from a webpage finishing with atwebpages.com or so..
Is there any way I can check that?
I have all sharing screen/remote etc switched off.
please help!

and followed the steps on terminal but for the step, dscl .list/users , I get this error : Cannot open remote host, error: DSOpenDirServiceErr
I have no idea what this means :s

As @Linc Davis said before terminal commands are not the right way to determine if you hacked or not. You can use Wireshark or Snort to inspect your connections.
Not really. They did did a good job it would take a forensic expert to determine that.
