Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

My (relatively new) iMac is incredibly slow - Please help!

Hi,

I realize this question is likely very repeated, but, I've scoured the forums and haven't found a solution that works, and I'm not sure what to do. My relatively new iMac is incredible slow. Like, super slow. From a restart to a place in the desktop where I can reasonable use the computer, is minutes, maybe 5. I see constant beachballs. Frequently, I might be using a program then switch over to Safari to do a web search and the computer has to catch up to my typing. Not all the time, but it happens at least once a day. Again, it's slooooooow. And, I don't know what to do.

Here is a EtreCheck report. I actually ran 2 within 30 minutes of each other just in case you might be interested in the differences.

Your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions are most welcome!

Linc Davis, your post helped me! I've been searching far a wide for a fix like this and using the terminal commands you suggested seemed to restore normal functionality to my machine. I suddenly started getting constant beachballs and very slow startup and logins for no apparent reason. I pulled my hair out trying everything I could possibly think of and none of it worked. I read through countless posts and tried reinstalling the OS numerous times. It wasn't until I searched on console log entry for "mdworker[1381]: (ImportBailout.Error:1325) Asked to exit for Diskarb" that I found this post.

So thankful for the help. You're amazing!

My (relatively new) iMac is incredibly slow - Please help!
