Beats playlists won't transfer to Apple Music

I just upgraded the iOS and the Beats app, but my Beats playlists won't transfer to Apple Music. When I try to go back to the Beats app, it switches me to Apple Music. How do I transfer my Beats library/playlists?

Same issue here. I also thought my username would transfer over, but it does not appear that it happened. I did notice that the artists that I followed in Beats Music did roll over.

So here is my specific situation and what fixed the problem for me. Clearly this is a glitchy rollout.

I was on a Beats family plan (I was not the paying member).

When I updated the Beats app it asked if I wanted to pay for a subscription which I just clicked cancel (Beats is dead Apple Music is not).

Then I clicked the get started button and it took me to Apple Music, which SHOULD HAVE transferred my playlists. This was a no go.

It wasn't until I went back into the Beats account and SUBSCRIBED TO BEATS at $9.99 a month and then pressed Get Started that things started transferring. I got a message that the amount I paid to Beats $9.99 would go as a credit to my Apple ID. I checked and there is no recurring payment for Beats (the Beats app said there would be) and I have not committed to a recurring payment after my Apple Music trial ends (I will be doing a family plan once again as the non paying member).

Hope this helps someone else.

Thank you, daoeye!

This method worked perfectly for me. I was on a Beats Music Family Plan billed through AT&T (I was the paying member).

In the Beats Music app, I signed up for a subscription @ $9.99/mo. I closed, then re-opened the Beats Music app and was greeted with the option to create an Apple Music account. I tapped the "Get Started" button and the Music app was opened. Even though I had already created an Music account, it still gave me the option to transfer my Beats playlists and data. It also confirmed that I would be refunded for the unused portion of my Beats Music membership ($9.99).

The transfer process only took a few minutes; my Beats playlists were successfully added to the Music app and $9.99 was refunded to my Apple ID.

I believe the biggest issue here is that the transfer from Beats Music to Apple Music doesn't happen if you don't have an active Beats Music account.

Good luck!

I went through the same process yesterday, had an active Beats account and I'm the paying member of a single user plan. I had to purchase the Apple Music subscription through the App store first and then got a message that my existing Beats account would refund the pro-rated amount. But after hours and hours my Beats playlists still wouldn't appear. It wasn't until I enabled iCloud Music Library in the settings that they all appeared. I'd used iTunes Match before but did not like it (had huge issues with missing songs, even the Apple rep I spoke with was baffled). When my playlists did appear I noticed some of the songs were different versions. I searched Apple Music and was unable to even find those original songs. But a few hours later SOME of them were mysteriously back to normal. Definitely NOT an easy transition. Tagging Favorites and allowing songs to be played offline was so confusing. It wasn't until I enabled iCloud Music Library that I got the option of playing music offline, and only via a menu instead of a quick popup like the Beats app. I really hope Apple fixes some of the quirks I've noticed (like sometimes the minimized player covers up the playlist view and no amount of swiping helps).

I found the solution is you have to have iCloud Music Library turned on for the Beats playlists to show. The problem with that is that with iCloud music on, you can't add music from CD's to your mobile device. Or at least I couldn't do it this morning. I have self help cd's you can't buy from Apple and Apple seems to think anything not purchased from them cannot go into the cloud. Now that I have my CD loaded on my iPhone, I turned iCloud Music back on and my playlists appeared. I guess I am going to wait for Music to download everything in my playlists (I had many songs in available offline mode) and then turn iCloud Music Library off again when I have to add a CD. Add the cd to the iPhone, then turn iCloud back on? Seems like a lot of trouble and half my music collection is from CDs. Maybe a level 10 will come along and correct me how to make it work "right" or add color.

I tried that and many of my Beats playlists showed up, but the two I used the most still did not. Yesterday I tried manually searching and adding songs to those two playlists (which used to have over 300 songs each, but now only have 2-4). They show up on iTunes on my Mac, but don't show up on my iPhone or iPad. And yes, I turned off "only show music stored on the iPhone/iPad." So next I will try creating a NEW playlist and add the same songs to it to see if the new playlist will show up on all three devices. It shouldn't take this much work. I just wish my original playlists had transferred.

That worked for awhile, but as I was adding more songs to the new playlist a new problem occurred. I noticed that one of my Beats playlists that did transfer had doubled in size on my iPad and iPhone. I relaunched the Music app on both, and now there were 12,000 songs in a playlist that only had 45 songs! Eventually it exploded to 350,000 songs! But they the 45 songs repeated over and over.

So I gave up and called Apple Support. After an hour and a half I finally have Apple Music working on all devices! I had to reinstall the system software AND create a new media library on iTunes. I lost most of my Beats playlists. But at this point I'm just happy everything is working! Thank you to all for your comments.

I had the problem of some Beats playlists not loading too. Some got only three songs. They were from KROQ. Two of the lists came over with just 3 of 25 songs. A third came with 25 songs. Does Apple Music have a do over? I can't find these playlists on Apple so maybe not. But I don't quite know how to search for playlists on Music either. Tips on Music curated playlists anyone?

As I understand, when we switched to Apple Music our Beats accounts were closed, so I'm guessing there's no way to retrieve those playlists. In Apple Music on the Mac when you launch the new iTunes (12.2) click on Playlists at the top, next to My Music. Your playlists are on the left sidebar. You can search for playlists in the search bar in the upper right corner of iTunes. I contacted BeatsMusicSupport about the missing playlists and they told the transfer had taken place so now I needed to contact Apple Support. Hopefully someday Apple will provide a way for former Beats users to access those playlists.

It took a couple of days but the playlists did in fact transfer over. The only issue I have at the moment is that the Beats playlist are mixed in with my original playlist created in iTunes within my mobile device BUT the original "beats" playlists do not show up in iTunes, even after I sync my device. Anybody know if this is intentional or a bug? I can't seem to edit or maintain those playlists which is absurd. Any ideas???
