Beats playlists won't transfer to Apple Music

I just upgraded the iOS and the Beats app, but my Beats playlists won't transfer to Apple Music. When I try to go back to the Beats app, it switches me to Apple Music. How do I transfer my Beats library/playlists?

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8.1.2

Same issue here. I also thought my username would transfer over, but it does not appear that it happened. I did notice that the artists that I followed in Beats Music did roll over.

The following solution (which I'm pasting from iDigital times), which worked for me, is also somewhere on page 2 or 3 of this thread.

The article addressed several questions related to the iOS 8.4/Apple Music "rollout" debacle (IMO); it's is very helpful.

Seems to me that the WhizKids at Apple assume everyone else out there is on their same Level 29 Jedi-like skillset when they release a major update.

All of this turning defaults on/off, resynching with iTunes, turning iCloud off and then on, finding hidden toggles, etc., either shouldn't have to be done or should be explained (with the Level 1 user in mind) ahead of time. I would have been more than happy to wait another few weeks of months for a smooth rollout. I guess the Ghost of MS will always be with us. Just sayin'...

The Fix: Deactivate the "Show Music Available Offline" option and then activate it and all tracks should appear. (This can be found on tapping on the "My Music" Tab, and tapping on the pink words with an arrow under them (artists/albums/songs etc.). A menu should pop up, at the bottom of which you'll find the "Show Music Available Offline" toggle.

Additionally, if you’re just not sure how to sync playlists at all in the new iOS 8.4 and iTunes, then here’s how that’s changed.

  1. With your device plugged into your Mac through USB, open iTunes on your Mac.
  2. Select Music from the icon tabs on the upper left of the interface.
  3. Then under Playlists, select your playlist you want to sync with your phone.
  4. The playlist name will appear as a banner image under the Apple Logo.
  5. Select the three dots to the right of the Play and Shuffle controls.
  6. Select Add To.
  7. Then select Add To Device.
  8. Now that you have the playlist you want to sync added to the queue to sync to your phone. Let's sync the playlist to your phone.
  9. Select your Device in the top row of icons on the upper left of the interface.
  10. Select Summary.
  11. Check Sync only checked songs and videos.
  12. Then select Sync in the lower right to sync that playlist to your iPhone.

Thank you, Colin. I finally gave up on synching all of my Beats playlists. Some synched completely, others only had a few songs, and some had hundreds of duplicates. So I started over in Apple Music recreating the playlists, as much as I could remember them. Everything was working well until the newest update of iTunes: 12.2.1. Apple Music works great on the iPhone and iPad, but iTunes screwed up my NEW playlists and I had to turn off the option to show my iCloud Music Library. So I can't see all of the playlists on my Mac that I recreated. If I try turning on iCloud Music Library most playlists disappear, but the songs aren't right, or there are many duplicates of one song. So my problem now is iTunes. I can't see my Apple Music playlists to try out your Sync information.

Waiting for another update with iTunes. Thanks for trying!

iI'm not sure why but my original Beats-created playlists are now appearing in iTunes under the "Apple Music Playlists" in the sidebar but playlists I created aren't listed there but listed along with my playlists created in iTunes and the Music app on my iPhone. Very confusing. I wish there was a way to display Apple Music playlists together in the Music app and iTunes. When bunched together I find it difficult to distinguish which playlists were created with which method.

I just tried something that worked! All of my playlists that show up on my iPhone now show up in iTunes 12.2.1.16! Here's what I did:

Launch iTunes with option key down.

Create a new iTunes library. iCloud Music library is turned on. Choose Scan Media files. After a few minutes of scanning all of the playlists start showing up. There's a group of playlists under Apple Music Playlists, and the ones I started creating in iTunes show up under Playlists!

I agree with Jerry that it's confusing that the playlists show up under different headings, but for now I'm just happy my playlists are back!

I can't figure out if you've already had your issue resolved, but thought I'd share my findings anyway if it could be helpful to others...

I had the same issue getting my songs to transfer from Beats to Apple Music. At first, only my playlists transferred but there was no music in them. So after sitting on the phone with apple support for 45 minutes the fix was quite simple... if you go to Apple Music, click on the "My Music" in the bottom right corner, next to either "Artists" under the Library tab or "All Playlists" under the Playlists tab, there is a down arrow. If you click on that arrow, at the bottom of the list there is something that says "Show Music Available Offline" and you must turn that OFF. This is because even though you'd downloaded music to play offline on the Beats app, because Apple Music is a new app, it needs to just be re-downloaded on the new app to be able to be played offline so currently there is no offline music showing up when that's turned ON like mine was.

Again, sorry if this is a repeat of what you already know, but didn't see it spelled out that way anywhere.

Thanks!

Solution.

After i "transitioned" from the dead beats music to apple music, nothing came over. I tried re-downloading but that was extensive and after much trail and error, i finally found a solution. Those who had iCloud music enabled, disable and re-enable it. Then go back to beats music and select "Get Started." move on to apple music, select continue and it will state that its going to merge your music... but it doesn't, until you force kill the app and reload it. All my music is back and playlists.
