just upgraded my iphone & ipad to ios 8.4 and can't seem to use home sharing any suggestions?
iPhone 4S, iOS 8.4
May I firstly apologise if the question is dumb regarding the issues with iOS 8.4, but has Home Sharing got anything to do with Airplay?
I stream music either from my PC (where the music files are stored) or my IPhone (also has music files on it) to an AirPlay speaker, using the houses wireless system.
Will an upgrade to iOS 8.4 mean that using AirPlay to play songs on an AirPlay enabled speaker is no longer possible?
@A-curmudgeon So far i did not notice any restrictions in Airplay
How ever, i just made a downgrade to iOS 8.3 as iOS 8.4 with all those Apple Music problems and restrictions doesn't mean any benefit for me.
Local music combined with Spotify is the better solution for me so far.
Curmudgeon: how are you using AirPlay on your pc? Is it a Mac? I don't know how you can do AirPlay on a windows PC.
IF there is a way please let me know. the main problem is if you have music in your iTunes library that is not synced to your phone, then you could use home sharing to play the music on your phone and then AirPlay it to a speaker. In 8.4 the home sharng is gone.
@PBW (Germany) thanks for the response
@Phil Tomaskovic please forgive me technological ignorance ( I may be using another application and calling it AirPlay). I have an Asus laptop with Windows and ITunes installed on the laptop. All my music is on this laptop. The iTunes has an icon on the right of the volume control (the symbol is a rectangle with a bold triangle at the bottom - I'm assuming this is AirPlay and quite possibly wrongly).
The laptop connects to a Bower & Wilkins speaker (in another room) using the in house wireless system and also using the symbol on ITunes described above (AirPlay?). When I am sat next to the speaker I can control which song I can play using the IPhone app called Remote.
Listening to music in this fashion is one of my little pleasures and would be sad to see it gone
