Missing artwork after upgrading to iOS 8.4

Having updated my iPhone 5S to iOS 8.4, all the artwork for my music has disappeared on the new Music app except for the few tracks I've bought from iTunes. Anyone else having the same issue and have a way to get my artwork back onto my phone?

Disappeared here as well. I have an iPhone 6 plus (128Gb).

Initially I was seeing the covers. Then they were gradually replaced by the empty icon with two notes.

This seems a bug in the new Music App. Apple was never able to correctly program the management of the database of tracks in the music app and this is no exception. QA is very poor nowadays. The programmers apparently cannot whip up correct algorithms.

You recently updated to iOS 9.2.1 I presume? I experienced the same thing after updating my iPhone 6+...

Amazing a "minor release", which brings no visible improvement manages to creates such chaos...

As for the iCloud Music Library, I also turned it off after it completely messed up my library when it was first introduced (I still have an Apple Music subscription; thankfully that works ok w/o the Music Library). I was willing to give it one more chance and spent over an hour on messaging, then on the phone with Apple Care in November to ask them to reset my iCloud music library as this is supposed to be possible per this support article. Two months later I'm still waiting on their support escalation to get back to me...

OK, I think I have some big help here.. it certainly made my life easier. I can't stop it from happening but when it does, this fix is massively better than deleting all your music and re-importing. Took me about 5 minutes to fix/sync for 20,000 songs.

Just simply delete everything inside your album artwork cache folder. ~Users/username/Music/iTunes/Album Artwork/Cache/

It forces the iPhone to relink all the correct album art from your iTunes app to your phone.

Important step: After deleting the cache, open iTunes and view in Album View. Then scroll through all your albums, which forces the art back into the cache. I'd go up and down a few times to make sure they're all back.

Then sync your iPhone. You'll see the added step where iTunes is copying over all your album art. Everything should now be back to the way it was.

here is my solution,i don't know why it worked but i think it is already downloaded in your iPhone's database or your itunes database.

  • delete your music in your iPhone (wrong album artwork only)
  • open itunes in your PC/Mac
  • connect your iPhone to your PC/Mac (if itunes auto sync is on, disconnect your PC/Mac internet first before you connect your iPhone in your PC/Mac)
  • disconnect your PC/Mac internet
  • sync your iPhone
