iTunes Match downloaded music no longer visible with iOS 8.4 and Apple Music

I am already an iTunes Match customer and I have approx. 23GB of music downloaded from my iTunes Match library to my iPhone 6.

I've upgraded to iOS 8.4 today and signed up for the Apple Music trial.

I have noticed a few problems:

- I can no longer see any reference to iTunes Match in Settings->Music

- I cannot see any of the downloaded iTunes Match files through the Music app (or anywhere else)

- In Settings->Usage->Manage Storage, the 'Total Used' still includes the 23GB of downloaded music (i.e. I have not regained any free space)

But

- The Music app is no longer listed as using any local storage

I seem to remember a similar issue when I first setup iTunes Match. In that case, music that had been synced from my Mac via USB was deleted from the phone and I had to download it again through iTunes Match. But I think in that instance there was at least a warning that the old files would be deleted, and I did actually recover the space.

With Apple Music I currently seem to have the worst of both worlds, as I have lost access to the locally downloaded files, but I have not recovered the space so I can't re-download what I want.

Has anyone seen this issue and found a solution?

Updating with further information after reading the other similar post that I've linked.

I have now discovered that I have also lost access to all the TV and Movies (my own rips) that I had synced to my phone. They no longer show up in the Videos app, and videos are not listed in Settings->Usage->Manage Storage.

When I connect to my Mac I now see a total of around 64GB of 'Other' as using up storage on the device. This is basically the total of all the USB synced Videos and the local Music files downloaded from iTunes Match. All of this is no longer accessible on the iPhone.

I found this post and it resolved the issue I was having: ios 8.4 music missing

In summary, the solution involved updating to the latest iTunes on my Mac and then syncing the phone with the Mac.

At first iTunes shows that the iPhone will be over capacity but it does allow the sync. After the first sync it did still show me 60+GB of 'Other', but after ejecting the iPhone I found that I could now see all the Music and Video files that were on the phone. Subsequent connection to the Mac showed the correct allocation of storage and removed the incorrect 'Other' storage.

Whilst this did work, it does mean that I needed to sync with a Mac to resolve the issue, which may not be feasible for an iPhone owner who is using it completely untethered and has no Mac or PC to sync with.
