Icloud music library not activating

When I try to switch on Icloud Music Library it switches back off within a few seconds automatically.

I've tried all the methods so far: airplane mode, remove/add my account, reboot, closing Music app, disabling Wifi.

Country Romania.

I even contacted Apple Support, they had no idea about this..strange.

I see no error message, just the switch going back off by itself in a matter of seconds.

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.4

Yes is so clear presented and until now so many of us were told at support that SHOULD WORK.. I mean really if even after calling at Support they were not able to say clear that is not working is the worst Customer Support experience ever. Never had such a bad experience with Apple. Is just not possible to advertise it, to lunch such a service and all this time not to realise this issue. Just trying here to "comfort" myself and give a bit of hope.

Starting to feel rather upset though 😠

You're right, their support experience is terrible. Even if the people are nice, and maintain appearances, they are not well informed at all.

Not to mention the actual features, which don't work, even though they're falsely advertised as working.

If this were a for-pay service, I would've paid my subscription just to try the service, and I would have been really ****** off.


Considering the false advertising claim, which I think is valid, if this doesn't get solved, we should complain to ANPC. This stuff is their bread & butter.

To me it's pretty clear at this point that iCloud Music Library is intentionally disabled without the possibility of enabling it throughout Romania, probably because of the iTunes Match unavailability in the country. Also Apple Support was clearly unprepared to handle this situation. Most probably Apple didn't make a big deal of it so that the Apple Music launch would not be affected by this "minor" issue.


The question to ask now, I think, is: Does Apple have any plans to enable it in the near future? Maybe because of the iTunes Match issue in Romania they simply decided to remain silent about this problem, for the launch, with plans to fix it later on? Or maybe they don't have such plans at all?


There's no doubt that Romanian users were misled by the false advertisement and hopefully Apple will clarify the situation soon. Hopefully.

I have to agree with you and others on your posts about Apple Support, they are misinformed and can't handle the tickets properly.Also, we should take proper action if iCloud Music Library and its services won't be available in Romania, as advertised by Apple.


I think Apple isn't able to offer some services in Romania ( even if Moldova, Hungary and most of the countries are included ) mainly because of legislation, not because they don't want to but false advertising should be taken seriously.


Stefan21 I haven't received any updates from Apple Support for 48 hours.

I was thinking at this too..but if was never advertised I would totally understand. But the fact that we can actually listen but they just messed up the code or who knows what they did makes no sense. If was a legislation issue no way on earth they will stream music here I suppose. I don't see how making a **** playlist is such a legal issue if I already listen to those songs.


In my opinion they need to modify the app code to bypass the iTunes in the Cloud thing.. is clear is possible if some of us were able to use it with that Airplane Mode workaround.

Well, I think the problem is somewhere in the code, as they advertised that is available also for Romania. I read that some users managed to activate it and used it. What is frustrating is that they did not give us complete explanations. Some Apple consultants don't know even this service is available for our country..I hope this issue to be resolved in a couple of days..a week maximum. It's really a service that I would love to have..

This worked for me on iPhone:


"In the Settings menu of the Music app do the following

1. Activate flight mode

2. Reactivate WiFi

3. Activate iCloud Music Library ( Genius should be deactivated before you begin)

4. Deactivate your WiFi really fast

5. If the iCloud Music Library is still on (with flight mode on and wifi off) restart your phone and enjoy"

The easiest way to enable iCloud Music Library is to throttle your wifi speed to 0.01 Mb/s or lower then simply activate iCloud Music Library and press Home+Power button until the device restarts..iCloud Music Library will remain ON. It doesn't work on the desktop client sadly, I think its clearly some region restriction there because it doesn't even send any information to the Apple Servers.

I think we shouldn't really look for methods of cheating the system, because sooner or later those methods won't work anymore.

What we should do is TALK to Apple support and make our voices heard. The more of us, the better.


Region locking has been, is, and will be detrimental to everyone.

Plus is not really sync if you have more than 1 device so is not a real solution and not something for which I would pay money
