iTunes 12.2: 'iTunes server could not be contacted'

With iTunes 12.2 and Windows 8.1: When selecting the "Check for Updates" option from the Help menu, a message box appears stating "The iTunes server could not be contacted. Please check your Internet connection, or try again later." The issue is not with the Internet connection, it is functioning properly.

yes, It is still happening. I called apple Tech. I spoke to a 2nd (my name for it) level tech. she gave me her phone # and email. (important connection). I explained the problem and all the things I tried to resolve it. I even asked, does Apple ever read these community forum pages. I am not the only one with this problem

restarted computer

disable firewall and anti virus

uninstalled / reinstalled i tunes with apple tech assistance

right clicked itunes icon to check off run as administrator

After all this message still appears

itunes update server could not be contacted.


Is anyone at Apple listening????
