iTunes 12.2 - how to remove similar artists and influencers?

Upgraded to iTunes 12.2 (Windows 64 bit) and now when I go to my music and play something from an artist, I get a biography to the right, along with similar artists and influencers. Call it an OCD or whatever, but it's distracting and I want this stuff gone/hidden/removed. I'm not seeing anywhere in iTunes to do this, but perhaps I've overlooked it.

Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

This is terribly annoying. In iTunes 12.1 I could see around 3 to 4 albums with their songs, now I need to scroll down because that similar artist thing is in the way. It doesn't even make sense.. Muse for example, "similar to: Placebo, Coldplay, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand", that is complete and utter ********, it's just displaying some artists I have in my library, likewise with the influences tab. Muse isn't at all influenced by Smashing Pumpkins and Queen...

I really hope this is changed, if only they added a checkbox under parental below "Apple Music Connect" that was Apple Music Similar Artists. I actually like the feature but there is so much graphic junk that I don't want to see on my screen for similar artists. I guess I am going to have to start listening to all church music from now on 😉.

I am so annoyed with this "similar artist" feature!!! It's viably ugly and what's even worse, I have not found that the artists listed have ANYTHING to do with the artist it's supposed to be similar to! I hadn't noticed the problem with Apple looking at my library and how many times I play a song but now that I've read about it here, I'm even more upset. There has got to be other players out there that can be used instead of iTunes, isn't there? Anyone have a recommendation?

Yes. Try Roon. I am still using iTunes for library and playlist management (mostly because of Doug's Scripts, which make iTunes a very powerful library manager), but for playback I am exclusively using Roon with a TIDAL subscription.

Now, I don't care if I can't disable Apple Music and Similar Artists, et al., because I only see that extra crap when ripping CDs or importing downloads from music download sites.

People!

To both get rid of this annoying thing, and to return to a view more like the original iTunes, just click on the 'playlists' tab in the top middle of the window.

This gets rid of the recommended artists thing, and brings back the old sidebar. It doesn't have everything on it that it used to, but it's a **** of a lot better than what is the 'default' view.

Edit: Woooooow apple, is h e l l just too offensive? Good grief.

hi all!

I has become painfully obvious to me that Apple has lost it's concern for what users want... it has now become a battle for your money and that is apparently all that matters. What the new powers that be don't understand is that a happy customer spends money. an unhappy customer will do their best not to contribute to the new system. This was not true when we had Steve at the helm of all of this. i hate to admit it but I stay with apple not out of loyalty but because even with the NEW flaws we all see they are superior to the competition, but I'm guessing that is all gonna change...
