Sweat damage to iPhone 6

I Recently had to have my brand new iPhone 6 replaced because of "water damage". As I have done in the past with all of my prior iPhones, I went jogging with my new iphone6 using a Belkin arm band case. I returned from my run to find my iPhone dead (blank screen). After sending it to Apple for repairs, they indicated that the phone had sustained "water damage" which falls outside of warrantied repair. I then had to pay $300 for a new phone. I find it distressing that this highly sophisticated and expensive device would be so susceptible to this degree of moisture. I don't even sweat that much. I use my phone for music, exercise apps and to keep in touch when I run. I was wondering if other users have had a similar experience and I'm not sure whether I should use the phone when I exercise again.

I am with you. I just learned from Apple that I need to pay $300 to have my iPhone 6 repaired, due to water damage. The phone stooped working right after one of my runs.
I could not imagine that would be the cause until today they told me, and I started to research.

There is NO EXCUSE for Apple or anybody else to justify "water damage" by sweat. Are you kidding me. I've been running with my phone from the first iPhone I bough 4.0 and never, EVER had a problem. I have it on my arm-band, how much sweat can that get.

Still in shock. What a piece of ****.

I sympathise, have had an SE for 6 weeks, used normally, never dropped in water but kept in my jeans on holiday ion a hot country - so just normal use (the same as I have used many phones (Not Apple) previously). Genius bar tell me water damage not covered by warranty and £250 for a replacement. Not asking for water resistance - big difference to normal use or 'sweating'. must be a design flaw that Apple will not admit - anyone had any luck with Apple accepting this? worries how many phones I may get through in a 24 month contract, Not happy.
