Music streaming slow for anyone else?

Since the first day, Apple Music streams (any song or station) have been incredibly slow. At first I assumed it was from high initial demand, but even now, most of the time the service is barely working for me. I'd estimate that 10% of the time things work perfectly, but 30-40% of the time songs can take 30 seconds to a minute to start playing, then they play choppy (as in not buffering enough). The other 50% of the time nothing even starts playing.

The obvious culprit might sound like my internet connection, but I can say that I don't have problems streaming online videos or Spotify – ever.

Restarting iTunes and my computer doesn't seem to improve the situation either.

Anyone else having issues?

Of course it works in Germany,, all the best people are there 🙂

So, i've done a clean install of El Capitan 10.11.1, and *not* upgraded iTunes.

by default, u get version 12.2.2, (which for some reason doesn't seem right. for 10.11..) i honestly thought it be at least version 13.1

In any case, been using Apple music fine and no slow downs at all ..... no choppy, nor attempted to playing other things.. It just work as expected.. so i can also assume any older version of itunes works fine too... just as long as u *don't* upgrade to 12.3.1

So, from my stand-point its iTunes issue. However its not not smooth sailing.. I still get the "Your subscription has expired." and a sign out and back in temporary fixes this.

Got back with a senior adviser with ticket escalated to engineers, and they told me they are aware that there are problems with Apple music, and fixing them with servers in the next releases of iOS and iTunes. (album art too).. Not sure if that would be next updates, but at least we know these will be coming.

Too bad Apple doesn't t read these forums otherwise they would have know all this 😀 oh well..

Unfortunately, u can't do this with iOS.

ANyone wanting to (re)download 12.2.2 - https://secure-appldnld.apple.com/itunes12/031-31872-20150813-B2459290-41B7-11E5 -A64D-900D11BA098F/iTunes12.2.2.dmg

I do, and it's driving me nuts!

Everytime iTunes is running in background — i.e., everytime it's not to be seen on screen — the streaming will loose its pace and the music playing will become intermittent. As soon as I pull iTunes back on screen, I will see the downloading bar starting to fill faster and the music will play smoothly.

It's ridiculous, I just can't believe Apple did it so dumbly. I don't want to keep staring at iTunes, I just want to listen to the music.

Same here...

Just tried to play a song on my iMac via Apple Music and it took forever to load, then when it did start it stuttered. Same thing happened on my MacBook Pro. Tried the same song on Spotify via iMac and no problems.

Then tried the same song via Apple Music on my iPhone and no problem. It seems there is a problem with the iTunes interface even though I've updated it recently to 12.2.1 - maybe it needs updating again...

All devices on the same network at 75 mbps btw.

Looks like Apple made the right decision to give us a free 3 month trial, although if this continues I won't be switching from Spotify any time soon.

Absolutely. iTunes is horribly slow most of the time. (even without streaming).

They’re changing both the software & security methodology, I think.

If you refuse the 3 month trial of Apple Music - it nags & nags, as well as runs excruciatingly slow, so its not the trial itself (?)

I just started buying music off of iTunes again - and suddenly one day - it just says “nope!.” Fine. I can buy elsewhere & skip iTunes if this continues.

I’m half convinced the sudden appearance of error 50 is the result of refusing the “trial” --

as I am now seeing it after finally "updated” the iTunes portion of an iPad I had been holding off on & issues there too.-

Issues are getting to be chronic. Y’know, I can run Windows with the same level of issues.

I'm having a horrible time with streaming and downloading, and it's only with iTunes. I have the current upgrade as well, and it seems to be terrible, as of yesterday. I don't remember having these problems even the day before! I've called Apple Tech help AND ATT Uverse tech. My connection is fine (Netflix, YouTube, etc. all work great), and the Apple Tech couldn't figure this out either. It's impossible to sample a song that rebutters every second (not exaggerating) and to download a 5mb song took 20 mins. This is ridiculous. Anyone find a cure for this yet?

I sent a few feedbacks, but I never got a reply in the past, don't see why I should now.

Furthermore, I'm downloading iOS 9 atm and the download speed is an average of 400KB/s, which is way lower than I've ever experienced with Apple servers. I believe they're having some kind of bandwidth overload and can't keep up.

(1) Apple does not reply to "feedback". They do read all the comments, but do not reply directly to the person who made the feedback.

(2) Yes, Apple's servers - not just for Apple Music but for general updates (like iOS 9 and the new Mac version of iTunes) have been slower than normal lately. Guess everyone is trying to get their new software/updates as soon as possible after release. I know that when I went to update iTunes on my two iMacs it took noticeably longer than it usually did.
