Music streaming slow for anyone else?

Since the first day, Apple Music streams (any song or station) have been incredibly slow. At first I assumed it was from high initial demand, but even now, most of the time the service is barely working for me. I'd estimate that 10% of the time things work perfectly, but 30-40% of the time songs can take 30 seconds to a minute to start playing, then they play choppy (as in not buffering enough). The other 50% of the time nothing even starts playing.

The obvious culprit might sound like my internet connection, but I can say that I don't have problems streaming online videos or Spotify – ever.

Restarting iTunes and my computer doesn't seem to improve the situation either.

Anyone else having issues?

Hi,

Same Problem Here! And now it is happening in all my devices, iPhone 6 and 4S, iPad 3, iMac and MacBook...

At first everything was OK... This issue has started for a couple of day ago.

My Internet is fast (100mb/s), and I verified that the TuneIn and Spotfy are working perfectly!

So definitely the problem is in the Apple Music!

I don't think it's related to the iTunes version since the same problem occurs on my iPhone as well. Also using the Google DNS, as some have suggested, is no good idea for people in Europe, since it appears to be located only in North America and is thus extremely slow here. For the person asking earlier, I'm located in Berlin.

Streaming has been gradually better the last two days, but I still get random streaming issues quite often with songs not starting or repeatedly hanging due to buffering. Come on Apple, you can and have to do better!!

Hi eschr

I have to respond to that quickly before it puts anyone off trying a possible fix: Google employs anycast routing for their public DNS servers (just like your average CDN does), so you should be directed to a server network-topographically close to you if you use their servers. In fact, they specifically acknowledge that it’s important for them to do this in order not to slow down multimedia (i.e. streamed) content delivered via a CDN.

Actual locations of Google’s public DNS servers here:

I’m in Leipzig and as stated before, Google’s DNS has solved the issue for me. Though I’m going to switch my Apple TV back to my ISP’s DNS tonight to see whether the original problem has been resolved.

Yes I get the problem on my iPhone too - that is on the latest version of iOS so it kinda makes sense that both the latest version of iTunes and the latest iOS version could have the same issue.

I can only point to my own experience - I was literally tearing my hair out trying to fix the issue for days - I even contemplated buying a new router, but rolling back the iTunes version to the one I mentioned cured all my problems. I've not had a *single* issue since doing it, and I listen every day for hours at a time. No stuttering, no songs refusing to start - it's bliss. Finally getting the service I am paying for and I couldn't be happier.

I have to jump in and also confirm that streaming and downloading Music is frustrating and almost impossible at the moment. I am using Mac, iPhone 6 and iPad and none works over WiFi. I am located in South Germany, WiFi is 50mbit, line is ok with other services (Netflix, Amazon, Downloads, etc. all have full bandwidth). In addition, App updates are also slow.

It seems to be better via 4G but this is not a solution and not a work around, because the data package drains within hours.

I love Apple Music because the Music quality is considerably better and superior if compared to Spotify and Tidal. I am already paying and would hate to cancel my subscription but my patience is limited.

I'll give it another couple of days and then I am back to Spotify.

Apple: Please fix this, this is not in line with your own high standards.
