Ok, so after 1 hour via on line support i did the following:
- Restored the phone back to factory
- Set it up as new phone,
But no joy.. Was again told it was a hardware issue. I mentioned that you can't say it is a hardware issue until you can put the phone back to as it was before. I.E. running iOS 8.3. Which apparently isn't possible.
They did mention that they check the phones hardware during the upgrade and not before, which seems ridiculous. Surely this should be done prior to apply the upgrade.
I was told that I could take the phone into a store to have it confirmed, so booked the appointment and went into today. Turned up 10 minutes early.
Then waited for another 15 minutes before I was seen.
Then they restored of the phone, meanwhile they went to wait serve other customers and had to wait another 10-15 minutes. Restore done and guess what... It still didn't work, what a surprise. Maybe a little harsh, as they were just confirming I guess. So then was told it was a hardware issue again.. But again I mentioned reverting back to iOS 8.3, same answer not supported.
So catch 22, can't prove its a hardware issue until the revert the software.
So then asked if I anything had been replaced, I mentioned the battery had been replaced. So Apple can't repair it as it was done by a third party and not apple.
There was no testing of the hardware done, as they don't have the facilities in store. Which is a little misleading..
They thought if it was a software issue, there would be more people having the same problem. So I mentioned this thread in both online support and in store.
But nothing, still a hardware issue.
So now stuck with a phone with a camera I can't use.
Anybody else had a reply from apple???
