iOS 8.4 rear camera freezing

iPhone 5C iOS 8.4 rear camera

not responding as well. Front Camera works through Whattsapp. However when starting from Home Screen, the front Camera also freezes. Hope Apple rectifies the bug ASAP.

Just go to apple store and get replacement if you are under warrenty. It is a part of some hardware issue. They replaced mine with no questions after test. Test tell them that cam is dead not not software

It is software related. If the camera hardware is dead, it is due to the software upgrade. Too many people here with identical issues after the upgrade. Apple refuses to acknowledge this though, even when faced with the obvious.

Im reposting what work for me, just because looks my original message was nested under other one.

Its seems that its a connection related problem. (WEIRD)
My girlfriend's Iphone5s had the same trouble, she reinstalled from scratch and everything was working properly until today.
Camera fails again.

We tried switch on and off the Airplane mode to force restart the connection and, magic. It works!

The rear Camera freezing is definitely Software Problem and this occurred after iOS 8.0 was released. Definitely there is bug in the Software and it is irony that APPLE is not paying any heed to this. Even if the phones are out of Warranty it's APPLE's Legal responsibility to provide the rectified Software. Tens of Thousands of phones might have got affected and APPLE is unmoved with this. There has not been any single comment from the company in this regard.

Such a thing can't be expected from such an expansive Phone. Phones one fourth of cost of iPhone give a better performance. APPLE needs to give an explanation and help resolve the Problem.

Okay guys, this has been bothering me for 4-5 days and no matter what I did nothing worked! Until, I decided to get old school with it like my 90s Zenith Television. What you'll need: carpeted flooring and a solid protective iphone case. I threw my iphone 5 in the air and let it fall to the ground (about 8-9 feet). However, the first two drops weren't sufficient, but you know what they say about the third time. Voila! both cameras fully functional...I know this sounds like a hoax, but I literally tried everything and in the end taking that frustration out on my phone (physically) actually fixed it. NO JOKE!

Confirm this is a pure software issue. I solved this as follows :

1. Sync up iphone in order to recover all data properly

2. Run an IOS restoration NOT an iPhone Restoration

3. Sync up all data from last sync up (1)

4. Launch photo app to make sure rear cam is black (if not will be soon).

5. CLOSE photo app

4. Download Awesome camera (free app) and launch it

You will notice rear camera works and so will iphone original app

Just to clarify

What I mean is to use first the right upper option in Itunes called iPhone Restoration which restores iPhone (and erases everything) with factory settings with latest iOs version available and DO NOT USE the restore iphone option. Then simply sync up normally to get back your data. and then install Camera Awsome. You are close now. Good day

For all the people with a broken rear cam,!!!

I had the same problems after updating my iphone 5S to 8.4.1.

Only front cam, no flash light..

Tried everything and nothing worked.

But you have to open up youre Phone.

remove the metal plate on the right site. then the glass with its connections and there is the rear cam.

Take it out with its connector and put it back in. set the glass back and it will work again!

hi i contacted apple because i have the same problem they say it is a hardware problem that be discovered by a software update or something so apple can do nothing they say that you have to go to a apple store

I Have THE same i say them iT was a software problem but Apple says its a hardware issue because not Many people have contacted Apple maybe if everone with THE problem contact Apple they gonna know it's something with THE software

seems to me this IS a software issue. I think it's very coincidental that this issue is only happening with iPhones 4 and 5. Maybe now that the new iPhone 6s or 7 whatever is coming out they want everyone to upgrade... It seems very strange that Apple hasn't responded at all to all these complaints #smellsfishy

hold the power button and home screen until the phone turns off by itself, then leave off for 30 sec, turn back on and SOMETIMES this works, the. It messes up again -_-

same problem here, tried everything, deleted last installed apps with camera access, updated all apps with camera access installed prior to this bug, restored settings, but still no solution

Is Apple just ignoring this bug or what?!?

I woke up this morning to see my front camera completely black and the flashlight not working as well. I closed out all apps and programs in the background, still didn't work. Turned phone off and on, didnt work. Downloaded a camera app, didn't work. I finally held down my home button and power button, waited 30 seconds to turn it back on and I have my camera back!!! I'm sorry some of you can't get your camera back. Hopefully Apple resolves this quickly.
