Do I have to join Apple Store to buy and download songs I want to buy? I can't figure out how to get to iTunes Store without joining Apple Music and paying a fee since I have done the update? Is this right? Please tell me this isn't the case!!

Do not use the link. Since you know the band's name, search directly in the iTunes Store or Amazon Digital Music. When you find the tracks, play the preview.

In order to buy music in the iTunes Store you should be in the light purple background color icon version not the white background.

Because that's never the way Apple has done it. You buy music through the iTunes Store. You are certainly free to submit your feedback to Apple here:

There used to be a link to the store in the Music app (I didn't notice it until somebody pointed it out), possibly removed in iOS 8 (it's there on an old iPod Touch that's on 6.1.6)

You can buy music from a computer's iTunes or the iTunes Store app on an iOS device in the same way as before Apple Music was launched

I have iTunes but I can't purchase music no option. I clicked to no see the subscription. I see all my music but no way to purchase
