This is something I've never seen before. I get a popup window with the following: Success What is this?
I keep getting the following message in a pop-up window.
<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>Success</TITLE></HEAD><BODY>Success</BODY></HTML>

I get exactly the same thing since this morning.
Same with me, OS X 10.9.5
I've never heard of that either. Can you do a screen shot of the pop up? Do not click on anything within it, it may be innocent but safety first.
Yup on mine too and it happens regularly. Apparently it also happens on android since like yesterday (from forums on the net). When it pop-ups, you're temporalily disconnected from the internet. Then you have to close it and then you're fine for browsing again.
Edit. Okay, now I see it. It didn't come through at first. I note at the bottom it says test. Are you involved with developments.
I don't get it on my Snow Leopard laptop (nor on my Android tablet), but when I changed my Mavericks iMac from Ethernet to Airport I saw it. The actual page is located at
http://www.apple.com/library/test/success.html
and its coding is
<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>Success</TITLE></HEAD><BODY& gt;Success</BODY></HTML>
meaning that some idiot has entered the html in such a way that the tags have been converted to the html code and so the coding shows when interpreted in html rather than just the word 'Success' - though of course it shouldn't be showing at all. As it's turning up for many people it's evidently a mess-up at Apple's end. Presumably Mavericks is carrying out some process when joining wifi that Snow Leopard doesn't do.
Thanks Roger,
That seems the likely answer. Just noticed it has been referred to in other posts, too. Where would one report this ... feedback?
What can we do now? Waiting for Apple's response? My wifi on iPhone 4S is not working....
There look to be many threads on this today. common issue that Apple need to solve quickly. I'm unable to work due to frequent disconnects.
Constant popup "join Wifi-network"
Why am I seeing captive portal request on my home network?
Re: i keep getting a window that pops up http://apple.com/library/test/success.html
I am getting same message every 5 minutes. This is happening after I upgraded iTunes, security update and safari.
I used to get this pop-up message when I was in the local coffee shop and connected to their public Wi-Fi. It is a notification that you have successfully connected to a non-home Wi-Fi, and is part of OS X Mavericks. I no longer get this message on the same MBA in the same coffee shop after updating to Yosemite. It may be triggered by an initial Apple process communicating back to Apple over the public Wi-Fi. It only occurs once.
Of course, mine simply displayed Success, not corrupted HTML.
Follow up. I reported it to the hosts, just in case.
i sure hope this issue gets resolved soon - i can't connect to my wifi
Same here from this morning in U.A.E. Only thing I made was uninstalling flash as they recommended. Did you do the same thing?
