iTunes Doesn't Recognize iPod (5th Gen Video 30Gig)

My iPod was working fine until I deleted songs that were all duplicated (using Anapod) and then discovered there weren't any songs left on my iPod.

I synced it back to iTunes and this messege popped out
"iTunes cannot read the contents of your iPod..etc etc" The gist of the message was that iTunes couldn't read my iPod and after I clicked the OK tab, the page sort of freezes and I can't click restore, so, its not possible for me to restore my iPod!

I've tried everything! Re-installing iTunes; disconnecting USB ports; resetting iPod nothing works.

AND

I have 15 video podcasts. in the Settings area, it says i have 15 but when I go to the menu section in the podcasts, i have 30! all duplicated!

so..

1. how do I restore my iPod
2. how do i get rid of the duplicates?

Dell, Windows XP Pro

Thanks for that link but I went there earliar and tried it, but it still doesnt work! I used Anapod (its not Apple supported) and I dont know if THATs what stuffed my iPod up, but I've used it several times before, and its fine.

iTunes still doenst recognize my iPod so I cant restore it to factory settings.

The duplicates appear in my iPod AND in Anapod, not in iTunes.

I ran a diagnostic on iTunes and it says that my iPod connection status failed. This is what its says:

No IEEE 1394 Host Controller found.

help (again)!!

I am also having this problem I had a new harddrive put in my computer and had to down load 7.02. My ipod will not sync with itunes and will not export any new music that I have bought. Can you go back and still download the old version of i tunes? I have stopped buying music because I cant get it to download any of the new music I bought before I realized it wasn't working. I also have sometime a smany as 4 of the same songs. This makes me so mad and irritated. I am not that great with this kind of stuff and I think that sometimes if aint broke you really should'nt fix it.

Not a reply, per se, but an associated question:

I just finished loading 2 audio books with the iPod pluged in, but can't find a way to download them to the iPod. Never had this problem before.

I've unplugged and re-plugged without any success, but don't know what to do now. I'll reboot the comptuer and see if that fixes the problem. If so I'll report back.

Thanks guys...

My problem is now a non-problem, must be this bloody computer. The re-boot fixed all and now we have updated the NANO with the latest audio books.
