Error: -3259 Entourage could not retrieve mail

I am using Entourage 2008 (v.12.3.6 - 130206) on my MacBook Pro (with OSX v10.9.5). And have been having problems receiving emails. I keep getting this message ... Error: -3259 Could retrieve mail. Can any one help, please?

You could try deleting and reinstalling, but beyond that, contact Microsoft support. It is its product.

Primary cause to get this error message are given below that will certainly aid you to accomplish root of error.

Because of improper SMTP configuration user get this error message.
Error 3259 occurs if wrong port is set for outgoing connection.
Because of issue in SMTP authentication also this error happens.
Server error is another error that’s can lead to this error.
Corrupted entourage database can also produce error code 3259.

Solution to solve this error has been mentioned beneath.

Follow the below steps:

Connect your application to Internet and log in your account. Change the SMTP port to 587 and for doing this;

Begin Entourage
Go to >>Tools >> Accounts
Double-click on account that you want to set up
Then go to >>Sending mail >> for advanced sending options.
Hit select Override default SMTP port, and put port value as 587.
Hit advanced options
Switch override SMTP association mode: 587
Hit OK to keep modifications and close Accounts
Clear Outbox, and launch test email.

Above steps may find out the solution of your entourage problems. If still you are getting the same error message at the time of sending emails then use third party tool like Entourage Database Repair Software. This software can resolve entourage error 3259 easily and fix other issue arising because of this error code.
