Macbook goes to sleep randomly

I purchased a Incase canvas bag from the Apple retail store.

It uses magnets to close the lids.

Before using the Macbook Pro move the case away from the laptop.

Yeah, pretty stupid design.

I'm having the same problem but there are no magnets or cases anywhere near my computer.

Mine is a late 2012 Macbook pro 13". It has worked flawlessly until about a month ago. Now whenever it is in battery mode it goes to sleep when I move it, even if I'm just gently repositioning it in my lap. I have to hit the reset button at top right of the body to wake it up.

It never seems to happen in charging mode.

I"m wondering if the battery is swelling with age and pressing on some component that could cause the sleep mode. It seems like exerting a little hand pressure on the bottom of the case or setting it down on something that presses there triggers sleep mode.

Oh my. It really does! I tend to sit mine on top of me as a little mat and I noticed it just now and thought, 'Is it something to do with it sitting on the incase case?'. I think it's when the magnet is near the socket for the mains adapter, what with it the end of that being a magnet.

Because of the magnet like you said, my macbook thought it was time to have a nap.

I have experienced that and noticed that a magnetic charge port of my plantoronics headset come near headphone jake , Mac goes to sleep

I repeated it to verify it ,
