iPhone 6: Recently my iPhone 6 does not gets charged when I connect my iPhone to the charging cable. There is a specific position in which I have to connect my iPhone for it to charge. I tried using different cables but no success? What can be done?

My wife had the same problem. All she had do was a hard shutdown by holding the on/off button and the home button down until the phone goes off and comes back on. Charger worked fine then.

It's not a software problem. It's dirt in the connector on the bottom of the phone. Try cleaning it with a bright light to see and a non-metallic tool such as a toothpick.

Yes - this has worked for me. I know its not a cable problem or dirt in the port cause I have cleaned both, change cables. Only thing that works is powering off the phone and powering it back on. have to do this every couple of days. Thank you Robert803

Lawrence - thank you for your response. I am pretty sure its not dirt for my issue. I have cleaned out the port and switched between four different cables. The only think that works is recycling the device. Take care

Oh my gosh I just read about the lint and didn't think in a hundred years that that would be the issue and I stuck a toothpick in and started working it up along the sides and three good size pieces of lint came out. Gross! But now it's working like new again. What a time-saver!

I had this same issue. My power cord broke, so I bought a NEW power cord for the Apple Store. It worked great for a while, then it stopped working - it would not charge. After reading some of these replies, I saw that someone took their phone to an Apple Store and they did a reset and software update which took over an hour. I decided I would try the Reset myself. I went under Settings > General > Reset (scroll to the very bottom). I tried the "Reset All Settings" (it does not erase data or media) and this seemed to do the trick for me. It is now charging once again. However, once you reset you will have to re-enter a few things back onto your iPhone, such as: your WIFI passwords, finger print/pass key to unlock and backgrounds photos.

MY I phone 6 does not charge anymore.the charger cable is working fine when I hook it up to my wife's I phone 6 it charges her phone very well so I believe the problem could be the phone charging port.

I Will try to clean the charging port with a plastic tooth pick. I will call back if this does not work

It is no doubt lint in the charging port.

Two solutions: Take your device to a verified Apple Tech location.

Or do with care what I did...

Take a pin or paperclip and gently remove the built up gunk from the port..It is not difficult but be very careful NOT to scratch the connection points or damage the port by being aggressive.

Right idea, but you are better off (and safer) using a non-metallic tool, such as a toothpick or a Q-tip with the cotton end cut off.
