Hi LarryHN
Thank you for answering! I was aiming to use inches and keep proportions like I did in my Photoshop program. When I look all I find is pixels and Small, Med.. etc... is there more nuance somewhere hidden? 😁

I fully understand his problem. If you use a professional SLR you are easily beyond the horizontal pixel limit of 2048 horizontal pixels iCloud can handle. So all the SLR images are not synced into iCloud.... So there is an issue. You should have an import option (or even automatically) that resizes the images to the max size iCloud can handle. I keep the originals anyhow outside of Photos to keep full control over it.

That is incorrect - there is no size limit for photos using iCloud

If you share photos using iCloud Photo Sharing there is a limit on photo size (since it is a free service it has restrictions) but not for iCloud overall - iCloud Drive and iCloud Photo Library have no size limits and you pay for the storage you use

And that is exactly as I stated - there are many iCloud services and the free iCloud Photo Sharing service does have limits - No other iCloud service has a limit since you pay for the storage used for all other services

As to your problem to get help you need to provide details - what iCloud service(s) are you using

You should have an import option (or even automatically) that resizes the images to the max size iCloud can handle.

This would break the core feature that the original is not every altered in any way.

That's fine for you if you wish, but the target user for this app is someone who wants simplicity.

Resizing is not a feature of Photos. Its lack is a defect!

It's not a defect nor is it missing. You can resize an image during the export process using Custom Size:

Resized images are normally for use outside of the library so this does the job intended. You can select Maximum width, length or just dimension. That will resize the image to those pixel dimensions.

No you simply do not understand - you can resize by exporting - you certainly can not resize without exporting since that would change the original image and with Photos (and all non-destructive editing programs) you never change the original

During export you can change the file size by changing the quality (JPEG compression) or change the image size by setting Pixel dimensions
