How do I delete Multiple photos in Photo?

If I try Command select it moves me to the next thumbnail rather than selecting multiple photos. I find it a PITA to delete photos one by one.

My "Library" is in my HD, not USER and it does not have a /Library/containers.... folder.

You are looking at the System Library, directly on your HD, not at the hidden User Library in your Home folder. You have to reveal the Library folder in your Home folder. Try again:

  • Bring the Finder forward by clicking on the Desktop or the Finder icon in the Dock.
  • Select your user/home folder (with the house icon in the Finder sidebar)
  • With that Finder window as the front window, press the key combination ⌘J to bring up the View options.
  • In the View options panel enable ’Show Library Folder’. That will make your user library folder visible in your Home folder.
  • Open your Home folder, then the Library folder, then Containers.
  • Move the complete folder ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Photos to your desktop. Move the entire folder, not just the contents.

Now restart the Mac and try again. If all is well, delete the folder from the Desktop.

NOTE: IIn Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks and Yosemite the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

For Mavericks and Yosemite you can go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring up this window:

The home folder is the one with these folders in it (except you won't see the Library folder yet):
