Why does a reddish hue show up in Mail at times?

I would attach a copy to show, but the insert image option won't load any jpg from my laptop... I guess that's another problem....

Anyway what turns reddish is the are where the Inbox, Flagged, Drafts, and Sent folders are. They happen to be on the server. All my other folders are "On My Mac" and don't turn reddish.

Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3), Apple Mail 8.2, IMAP,Comcast

Unfortunately that's the other problem. This forum gives me this message overtime I try to insert an image! The file can be a jpg or a jpeg, it's less 2 MB, the file name is "applemail" which meets the criteria for a name...... So, I have an image but can't share it!

There was an issue uploading your image. Please ensure the image file name only includes accepted characters (letters a-z, numbers 0-9, spaces, dashes or underscores), the image is an accepted file type (.jpg, .gif or .png,) and the image is smaller than 2 MB.

Howdy whitesalmon

Our friend AlohaBob asked me to have a look here - mainly about your inability to insert your iPhone photo of your Mac's Mail window.

RE: Mail Window RED HUE

I am a pretty good "searcher". That brag out of the way, I cannot find anything about your Mail "reddish hue" issue. My best guess is that is is simply an 'indicator' of your reported "on the server" status, but don't bet on my guess.

Apple's search is just "OK" - ASC search is terrible (two different things entirely - Support articles are actual files on a server's directory tree and ASC discussions are contained in a database)

I search using Google Site Search mostly, but I sometimes 'get lucky' searching Apple Support

Apple - Support - Search < this will require 'browsing the results'

https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#safe=off&q=mail+red+site:support.apple.com < mickey around with search terms, leaving ' site:support.apple.com ' alone - all the Google search modifiers are allowed = quotes, * for wildcard, Filter tools such as "Date", etc.

RE: INSERTING your Mail window image

This should be very straightforward. I would be very interested in exactly what happens when you try to insert an image. A detailed description of every action you take and the results - step-by-step - will have to suffice, I guess - since the issue is NOT being able to post a screenshot!!

Sometimes, when I attempt to Drag & Drop an image from the Finder to this Reply window, the blinking "text cursor" - NOT the "I-bar" text select cursor, but the one that indicates WHERE the nest keystroke will be - "disappears" (this is apparently due to my fumble thumb and TrackPad accidentally "tapping" outside the textBox)

If you are NOT employing Drag & Drop, you must be using the camera tool of the TinyMCE editor. That process may give you error messages in the popOver Pane.

You can also use the Clipboard. To take a screenshot TO the Clipboard - simply add the "ctrl" key to the key combo you normally use then PASTE "CMD+V" where the blinking text cursor is

example = CMD + CONTROL + SHIFT > 4 = 'marquee cursor" selected area to Clipboard - THEN Paste

User uploaded file

*I also replied to your other thread thinking it was a logged out by timeout or Glitch issue

OK. "How" are you obtaining this image? Screenshot? OS X built-in? Some App? Some browser add-on?

You say the filename is "applemail"? If you have manually stripped of the file 'extension' = " applemail.jpg ", then the server here is not recognizing it as a valid filetype.

If this is not the case, open it in Preview > Save As a PNG file - SHOWING file extension - and try again.

It almost seems like I'm locked out and/or my ID doesn't have permission of some sort to do the image insert. I've tried to insert all kinds of images, and I always get:

There was an issue uploading your image. Please ensure the image file name only includes accepted characters (letters a-z, numbers 0-9, spaces, dashes or underscores), the image is an accepted file type (.jpg, .gif or .png,) and the image is smaller than 2 MB.

So, I'm clicking on the right button because it at least always gets me to the error message!! Is there a way to see if there is some kind of permission issue? Am I the only one who can't insert an image?

Pastebin looks like I need an account set up to try it.

Can I just email the picture to the forum somehow? At least I know that works!!

I will restate an earlier possible workaround = "... use the Clipboard.

CMD + V

instant success... no dialogs, no muss, no fuss

Lest we forget your initial issue, I will reach out to someone who is as much of an expert in Mail as I know.

I am gob-smacked!! the above is posted as a result of replying as I would to any other email message from my desktop mail client MS Entourage 2008!

I had "attached"an image already previously above (NOT {Insert} {Picture} tool - which places images INLINE) I'll try that next
