Why does a reddish hue show up in Mail at times?

I would attach a copy to show, but the insert image option won't load any jpg from my laptop... I guess that's another problem....

Anyway what turns reddish is the are where the Inbox, Flagged, Drafts, and Sent folders are. They happen to be on the server. All my other folders are "On My Mac" and don't turn reddish.

Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3), Apple Mail 8.2, IMAP,Comcast

Dudn't work - but - being able to post text by merely replying AS an email is VERY cool!!

I would still hold off on the bugle call - I am not convinced that Copy/Paste and Drag & Drop have been tried - but you go ahead and cry wolf if you like 😉 = proof that the camera tool is broken for the OP in "what browser and version" has not been demonstrated to my satisfaction.

[tsk tsk, holding out on your buddy?]

RE: reddish hue

I have reached out to diane, but she is slam-dunked busy -

meanwhile we can continue to trubbleshoot the image issue - we are eminently qualified, wouldn't you say?

This message is the catchall

There was an issue uploading your image. Please ensure the image file name only includes accepted characters (letters a-z, numbers 0-9, spaces, dashes or underscores), the image is an accepted file type (.jpg, .gif or .png,) and the image is smaller than 2 MB.

My inclination is to focus now on the FILENAME which I know will get this message... I had a screencapture add-on that put the "Page title" as part of the annotated image's filename -- the actual Page title of this very page is:

" Why does a reddish hue show up in Mail at times? | Apple Support Communities "

The Vertical stroke => " | " <= is an illegal character

OS X late model's built-in screenshots put a "timestamp" in the title - I can envision a user customizing a SystemPref time / date format to confuse the OS enough to make it "get" a timestamp containing illegal characters and put it in the screengrab name - OR - the user could be renaming illegally

I suspect what you are seeing is the bleed through in Yosemite where the background color will show behind a window.

Change your Desktop picture to a solid blue background. Do you see a bluish hue now? If you don't like it, you can turn it off. Personally, I like having a bit of color back to contrast all the gray we have now.

You can try but I can't guarantee it will work. When you get the email notification to this question reply from email and add the screenshot instead of replying from the Forum.

Aha!

it appears this is another example of giving us "safety scissors" by our pals at the AppleJiveTeam...

[heavy sigh]

full blown JiveWare on JiveCommunity works fine

I'm not as savvy as you think with CMD, marquee cursor, etc.! I know some stuff, but consider myself more of a user than a tech guy.....

I did get a copy of the "image" into the clipboard that I can find in Finder to view. It shows the "image" and says it's a Tiff image. Then when I do a Paste where the blinking cursor is in this reply, nothing happens.

Is the blinking cursor within my reply where I'm supposed to be doing the Paste? If so, it doesn't work....

Thanks for all the tips. I did try the drag and drop from the finder, and that worked!. Don't know why the other tip didn't work, but here it finally is! I'll use drag and drop as my work around.... Anyway, since this worked I am also including a shot of when it was blue. And, the middle one is what was/is normal..... So, far it only seems to be when I'm in mail..... The red and the blue are very infrequent. And, only started when I changed from a POP account to an IMAP account connected to the Comcast server where the Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Trash folders reside.

Another Mail related problem I've been having (and it looks like I'm not alone) is not all sent emails get to the Sent Folder.....

Anyway, that's my sad story to this point.

Thanks again for at least getting me to the point where I can communicate with the forum, i.e. drag and drop...
