No firewire after Yosimite update

I upgraded from mavericks to yosemite, and now the system report cannot find the firewire devices. They get power from my macbook pro but do not see them. Any suggestions?

Thanks Eric, I tried that and got message: mount/force/dev/disk2: No such file or directory

I tried TechTool Pro 7 without luck.

Is it the Yosemite upgrade that did something to my firewire port or to every drive that I try to mount because none of the mount on other computers after I tried it on mine. Like a virus contaminating?

I'm puzzled. Any help appreciated.

I did a general web search - "problem with fire wire devices after Yosemite update" and apparently this has been an issue for some time - with not only on this site but also on other mac sites (magazines or blogs) showing up.

On this site if you use the search to the right of people you can search all threads on this site for your devices (don't know why apple doesn't automatically search the site when you ask a question rather than continually adding new incidents making you feel like the only one with a problem).
