I have recently updated iOS 8.2 to 8.4. When I open Apple music and play a song from my library there is absolutely no sound. I have tried restarting my phone , signing out and in again , factory reset without any result.
iPhone 5c, iOS 8.4
Follow these steps and test the sound after each one.
If you follow these steps and still hear no sound or distorted sound, contact us.
I used iTunes to restore my iOS device to factory settings and the problem still exists.
I was having the same prob and followed metropolis2k's advice and voila, it worked!! I have a 6plus and haven't yet done the latest iOS update. Hopefully that'll fix the problem permanently.

I have this problem when my wifi is down for anyone who has this issue if the update doesn't work or doesn't need to be updated try switching to data if you are on wifi
My wife's iPad suddenly developed this problem tonight (no idea what happened) - sound everywhere except in music playback - your hard reset suggestion worked perfectly and back to normal. 🙂

My phone did this too after I updated it just restart your phone shut it down all the way then turn it back on
