iTunes On Windows 10 - Won't Install

I just updated to Windows 10 today, and I reset my system so it was a "clean install." As I was going to download iTunes again, I quickly noticed that it won't work. I am running 64-bit Windows 10 Home.

First error that occurs, it happens while the installer is running and it "rolls back" and continues to the next error:

Second error. Similar to first one except it gives "Abort," "Retry," and "Ignore."

After selecting "Abort" because "Retry" just throws the same error every time, it says iTunes is installed successfully and when I hit finish to open iTunes, this appears. This happens every time I try to run iTunes afterwords. I have tried uninstalling iTunes and then running the install as Administrator (The user I use on my PC is the Administrator, so I don't understand why I don't have privileges to initiate services)

Please help! I need iTunes later this fall when iOS 9 goes public, I plan to do a clean install then which requires iTunes for the proper restore process.

I found a number of versions of the setup program - about 75 of them, many different ones, got rid of all of those. Don't seem to have ANY Apple apps in this computer at all.

What is AV software? audio-visual?

Tried another install of the setup and found out where to go to 'run as administrator' but nothing was different and got the same error.

My son should be here tomorrow, he does a lot of computer work, but hates Apple, so may not be able to help, but I will see what he can do....

Thanks for your help, I will get back to the forum if he can't help, or maybe search around and try to find a phone #.

Thanks for posting "Troubleshooting Issues with iTunes for Windows Updates". I followed the instructions (bout half way) and was able to install latest iTunes after rebooting. I had tried installing iTunes several times but was not successful; I got useless message that "errors occurred during installation" - "finish to exit setup". Had to link new iPod 6th generation after receiving replacement for original iPod. I had updated to Windows 10 prior to receiving new iPod. How frustrating. Your advice worked!

Well, my son stopped over today... went through all of your suggestions, browsed various websites, support sites, etc.... worked on it for maybe an hour. Couldn't get anything to work and was getting the same error messages as I...... he then tried a site called Ninite (sp?) which in his words "forced an install."

It is in, and working. He is a computer tech for a national corporation and is sometimes involved in the customer service end of things. His firm is having a lot of issues with Windows 10 and their software. Thought that might be one issue, but then went back into the Apple help forums for installation trouble, and couldn't find anything where Apple is providing support for Windows 10... so he wasn't sure where the problem lies.

I honestly have no clue what happened, but I now have ITunes. Thanks again for providing some suggestions.

I tried both of these and they didn't work, the article, the information from turingtest2 (except current version of itunes), and even unchecking "read only" in properties for Program Files and Program Files x86.

I'm pretty sure that those helped, but I only rid myself of the issue when I did the following:

Go to C:\ProgramData (a hidden folder) and delete both "Apple" and "Apple Computer" folders.

Hit the windows key and type regedit to open the registry editor.

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE and delete the "Apple inc." and "Apple Computer Inc." entries.

This helps eliminate any dead links.

Frankly, this whole experience makes me hate windows that much more.
