PROBLEMS SOLVED!!!

Has the same problems. Before the messagge" applessd.sys etc.etc.", deleted the applessd.sys but non solve the problem becaus "Im having the same KB/Mouse issues. After removing the AppleSSD.sys files, I was able to get through most of the installation (with Wireless USB KB & Mouse working just fine). After restarting and getting to the Set Up Windows screen, to enter Username & Computer name Mouse and KB no longer work. I tried unplugging and replugging in to the back of my computer (27" iMac - 5k Retina mid 2015) but no changes"

I am using 27" iMac - 5k Retina and installing Windows 7 Professional. I bought product key and have tried to install it for days.

SUCCESS AT LAST!! Here's what you need: Windows 7 image, a USB 2.0 flash drive , and the Boot Camp drivers 5.1.5769 that i find in this link: Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5769 . They are hardware specific and available for download somewhere on the Apple Site. Here's what I did:

  1. Using Boot Camp Assistant, prepare the USB flash drive. Select the first two items and prepare the disk. Quit Boot Camp Assistant.
  2. From the Finder, delete the $WinPE$ and Boot Camp folders from the FLASH DRIVE.
  3. Expand the old Boot Camp drivers 5.1.5769 (two folders and another file) on your desktop.
  4. Copy the $WinPE$ and Boot Camp folders to the FLASH DRIVE.
  5. Reopen Boot Camp Assistant and select only the third option, install Windows 7.
  6. Sit back and relax as the installation proceeds.

Now the windows recognized my keyboard and mouse. The installation successufly. Perfect!

I hope this help will resolve your problem

I have exactly the same problem, just an hour before the forum was opened here. I have found no older version of applessd.sys. My file has been renewed until this month by Apple. A colleague has installed until 1-2 months before Windows 7 on a MacBook Pro 15 Retina (we have no contact to this person) without any problems. Disabeling the file signature checking doesn't work. I tried it first.

In my opinion, it is a harassment of 👿Apple👿 to banish the better Windows 7 from its computers.😠

Does nobody have a colleague, who has already installed Windows 7 a few months ago on a Macbook Pro 2013-2014 and can post us the older version of applessd.sys?

I WANT MY WINDOWS 7 !

Hi everyone

I just had the same error yesterday and as was saying previously Ekimalito, having such a bug from so many people all of a sudden means that it comes from a early update of something. Also, it sounds hard to believe that "applessd.sys" could be a Windows file, thus something must be wrong on Apple side.

Hence, the most logical reason to me sounds likes it comes from Bootcamp itself. I guess that you guys also have been into Bootcamp and choose the "Download the latest Bootcamp version" option to create your bootable Windows stick. This could explain where this very new crappy update come from. It could also mean that it could work with an older version of Bootcamp. From what I recall, to do so you must first create a bootable windows stick (with Unetbootin for instance) and then copy directly at the root of the stick all Bootcamp files (from an older unzipped version).

I will try tonight (i'm in Brussel so I don't know what time is it for you guys), if someone feels keen on trying before let us know!

Hope this will help

Having the same problem with a 2012 Mac Min running Yosemite.

I had previously installed Windows 10 using Bootcamp - no problem.

I then removed the Windows partition using Bootcamp so that I could reinstall my licensed Windows 7 Home Prem. (I want to register for Windows 10).

I went through the usual Bootcamp steps; created a bootable USB drive, etc. But when it went to start Windows 7 for the first time I got the applessd.sys digital signature error.

I tried rebooting Windows using F8 and tried all options from Safe Mode through to disabling digital signature verification options.

These didn't work - and I got the blue screen of death.

I suspect this needs a fix by Apple - an update to Bootcamp. Hopefully soon.

Same issue, as I said in the other thread. Neither Apple nor MS seem to have a clue. Very upset, as now, after trying to delete the crappy partition, it is gone (gave an error, but is still gone), and now I booted up my mac to a back "No bootable device. Insert startup disk" screen.
Rebooting and option key worked, but I"m worried about this and the number of times I had to reboot using the power key because of this problem. Don't want it to happen every time I boot.

Did this just break my mac???

@Loner T: I have followed your request and contacted Apple through my AppleCare. They asked me to make a backup of my iMac, format it and retry the bootcamp procedure. This test must be done before they send reports to engineer. The women in charge was the suppervisor of the team and according to her, it was the first time they encouter this problem.

Notes that it's the French/Belgium AppleCare, thus it might be different fro mone coutry or another.

I'll do the formating and I will also try to use an aloder version of Bootcamp as said in my previous mail

Aug 14, 2015 6:07 AM in response to Loner T

AppleCare UK should be aware of the problem as I contacted them yesterday and they told me it was a Microsoft problem. (See earlier on in this thread, page 3/4). I will try them again and give them the information you suggest Loner T. By the way, I am not going to format my MAC if they ask me to do that!

What is so frustrating is I don't even want to stay on Windows 7; I happen to have a licence from a PC that is no longer in use and I want to use it to put Windows 10 on my MAC. There was a post with a link to an Apple announcement earlier on in this thread, which said about them dropping support for Windows 7 in Bootcamp. But it seems bad if they have simply done it without giving people some time to prepare for it. Hopefully the signature problem is a genuine problem and not just Apple withdrawing support so soon, otherwise they could well refuse to fix it.

I'll post back when I can and thanks to Loner T for offering to grab an older version of the APPLESSD.SYS file. We can then just copy it to the bootable USB we've all already made and it should then install as part of the bootcamp process.

Aug 14, 2015 6:47 AM in response to ahtsan

On the USB flash drive,Bootcamp created a folder called $WINPe$ or something where it puts the apple drivers.

I removed the folder that was called AppleSSD...... something (don't have the folder left so can really remember the name)

And now my installation works.

Haven't noticed anything diffent in windows without the applessd.sys driver, so not sure what it does.

Best regards

I installed Paragone NTFS for Mac and as suggested deleted applessd.sys from the NTFS volume. However now when I get to the initial setup of windows (where you have to enter in a computer name, etc) the keyboard and mouse don't work!

I'm installing on a brand new iMac with an actual SSD harddrive.

Thoughts?

Please ensure you use a USB2 flash drive, not a USB3.
