Why am I no longer able to install QuickTime v7.7.8 on Windows 10? I get a message that it can only be run on Windows Vista or 7. The last version that was able to be installed was v7.7.7. Why did the install get blocked as of v7.7.8? Why is Apple Software Update still only offering QuickTime v7.7.6 under New Software even though it is no longer the latest version?

I downloaded this installer and seems that it has a vulnerability (Exploit.gen).
I downloaded TommyNations custom installer and it failed as well, so I"m giving up for now

As I've said before, the remedies given on tommynation did not work for me at all - including his customized installer.

I would check what version of quicktime you have. You want the latest. 7.7.8 last I checked. Many products include a quicktime install, but often an out of date version.

Yes, I installed 7.7.8 (1680.95.71) on Windows 10 also! Something has changed. Works great.

No it was Apple's error in not accepting windows 10. What Microsoft did was change the Microsoft Installer to recognize the Quicktime installer and tell it that it was in windows 7 mode.

Apple was at fault rather than Microsoft this time.
