Is iCloud compatible with Outlook 2016?

I've installed Windows 10 and Office 2016. I also installed iCloud and every time I try to access it and synch with my Outlook 2016, a window pops up and says top Repair iCloud installation, then Restart. I've done this twice but still no go.

Is Outlook 2016 too new??? Or is it Windows 10???

Hi all,

I have had this horribly caught amidst the problems I was facing with Windows 8.1 and then I installed Office 2016 and was cruising towards setting up Outlook and some other very essentials for me like Visio and Project. As I needed my iPhone to be simultaneously working on synchronisation as the newer version of Office I was moving quickly iCloud sync app (the recent latest version) has also been installed and immediately after then I realised the grave mistake I did. Any of the Office app would not load and seems some repair would try to solve and crash soon. My emails on Outlook have entirely messed up my situation and I lost good amount of time, money, clients relations and peace of mind. I worked out the best and researched as most of the systems around are predominantly Windows based. Unfortunately I have to do this research and felt this will help you all too.

Office 2016 is backward compatible. Make sure to skip the entire iCloud family of 6.X.X.X version updates while tracking the older versions and see for a stable version.

Yes, Microsoft acknowledge Apple released this version but I don't feel its worth wasting time as neither would compensate any ones loss.

iCloud for Windows 5.1 supports Outlook 2016 -

So, try downloading version before 6.0 as I could find some on filehorse:

http://www.filehorse.com/download-icloud-control-panel/old-versions/

I used the iCloud version 5.2.1.69 and it worked. Office 2016 has been loading with older versions of iCloud (5.2.1.69) and I currently have no issues. I will not be able to rule out that this is sure but I have no options but to use Windows operating systems and so as Office along with the iPhone. So, please do not take my word but backup for your safety. and try this.

Good luck.

Hey There Richard,

I see that you're wondering about iCloud for Windows being compatible with Outlook 2016. Currently iCloud for Windows does not support Outlook 2016, but an updated version is coming out soon which will support it. Check out the information below to find out more:

iCloud for Windows currently supports Outlook 2007 through Outlook 2013. Support for Outlook 2016 will be available in an updated release soon. If you use Outlook 2016, you can access iCloud Mail, Contacts, and Calendars on iCloud.com.

Take care.

Thanks for the extremely late response. But it's too late, because of Apples ignoring this problem for too long, I just bought a Surface Pro instead of an iPad pro. Only thing left to do is to replace my iPhone. Let Apple know they should have acted in a responsible time, which as usual, they refused to do. They have pushed alot of people away with this BS response including my entire household.

Alex_h1 and others here,

I have been in contact with a Sr Adviser at Apple, iCloud Team and she reported to me on Wednesday "...I just got notice that there will be support for Outlook 2016 soon so they are working on something."

I think we have their attention and something is going to get done. I cannot tell you how long 'soon' is but I will continue to bird dog this until we get this problem solved.

Has anyone get given an promising response like this from an official source at Apple? It would be good that we keep the contact information for these people handy should this mess go south.

Same issue here.

I had it running fine, until I did a fresh install of Windows 10 and all programs earlier this week .

After the upgrade to iOS9 on my iPad 3rd generation making it horribly slow and doing nothing spectacular to the very "closed" operating system, this is the final Apple-showstopper for me. (But yeah; don't look a gift horse/iPad in the mouth...)

Never used Apple mail so just moving away from Apple to my Exchange (Office 365) account for contacts and calendar does the trick. No cross-platform (we also have Android devices in the house) issues there and problem closed for me. Had no intention to wait any longer for a solution by the fruit company.

(Sorry: English is not my native language but I'm quite upset in mine 😉.)

Yesterday I decided to abandon the Apple services.

I have all contacts and caendario Gmail and now I manage everything from the site.

If you need to manage contacts and calendar with a program, I will use "One Calendar" and the app contacts of Windows 10.

For now I feel good.

Hello Hello Apple

Sorry if my English is not perfect ...

iMinnesotan :

I've not been successful getting this to work. In theory it should but the issue seems to be getting outlook 2016 to constantly "talk" to outlook.com and update contacts and calendar. I'll presume outlook.com to the phone will work.

I've been looking for a good set of written instructions on how to achieve this through Exchange Active Sync (EAS) without any luck. Have you found nay ?

Well it seems we have finally got their attention - Here's hoping that 'soon' isnt too long. But lets not just wait. Keep sending the feedback to apple to keep them on their toes!
