eMac won't boot up.

I just bought an eMac on craigslist. I pressed the power button and I hear the fans turn on. I press and hold until I hear the mac chime and the light in the front light up. I then get the apple logo with the spinning thing under it. This screen doesn't stop. It keeps spinning for long amounts of time. I tried to do an FSCK on it. However, when I get to the screen it wont let me type. The chime also adjusts its volume when it powers on. I reset the PRAM because I always do that when I buy a computer. Any other ideas? I can replace the hard drive if thats the problem. Thanks.

The drive is fine When I worked on the iMac and got it to the new OS with the right disc, I put the old one back in and wiped it, then installed a clean copy of 10.4 on it from that disc. I'm assuming the only reason it wouldn't like it, is because of the fact that it was installed on an iMac. Any ideas? Thanks! You have been a lot of help!

Okay. I went into replace the drive because I am waiting for my local store to get a firewire in. When I went in, I found that I forgot to plug in the PSU cable into the hard drive. I did that and I put the eMac back together. Now it is beeping at me 3 times. Which you said earlier means no good banks. What does this mean?
