YouTube white screen, black box in the corner

Hi guys i'm having the same problem. I go into fullscreen and boom...

yesterday my mbp retina 2.7Ghz 16 RAM mid 2015 crashed and freezed when saving a logic pro x file and now this. I really hope it's Yosemite 10.10.5 problem, because i just updated and started having these problems.

I Hope APPLE fix this with el capitan!

Any suggestions?

1. Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies and website data:

Press the “ Remove All Website Data” button.

Press the “Details” button.

Remove YouTube related cookies.

2. Safari > Preferences > Extensions

Turn all extensions off, relaunch Safari and test.

Turn those on one by one and test.

I got a new Macbook Pro w/ Retina as well and I think I can return it within the next few days and I noticed the same problem with the Youtube full screen where I get a white background with a black box in the left side

What I do is pause the video, hit full screen, then it doesn't happen anymore 🙂

Apple will fix this sometime! 🙂

Yep, me too! Started happening a few days ago. Had the retina MBP over a year now and never had this before, so probably not a hardware fault as some other posters suggest. There's got to be some fix, surely??

Yeah this happened to me too! I actually scheduled an appointment and they took it in for repair. Sadly, they couldn't duplicate the problem. Im guessing its something to do with Safari or the plug-ins. Don't worry, OS X El Capitan will come into play soon and I hope Apple fixed it. 🙂

I have had this problem for a few weeks and I think I fixed it! I deleted all adobe products on my computer. Photoshop, darkroom, and Flash! Then I installed them one by one again, starting with flash. Everything works great now!

I am having the same problem. I replaced my laptop 3 times but that issue is still there. I checked in both OS X 10.10.4 and 10.10.5. Don't know how to solve it. Clearing cookies is not working. I have last two days to replace it. Guys please help me if you have solved this issue then.

Also If you click annotation off on Youtube this issue comes again.

It happens to me too. I have Macbook Pro 15" 2014 model. I uninstalled Flash completely, but to no avail. Youtube goes white randomly, and only when the control bar at the bottom of the screen disappears. If I move the mouse to reappear it, the video just plays OK. It's not such a big issue for me, because I do not watch Youtube that much, but is is quite annoying.

Yes, absolutely, I only do not have the black square, it's completely white screen. If I copy the page link, close the tab, open new tab and paste the link there, it does not go white any more. I think it is very incompetent to whipe your entire macbook just because this issue. It's not a hardware issue either. I also think it is not that rare. I hope the thing disappears with El Capitan end of the month.

I will take my MacBook Pro to the closest Apple store on Tuesday. I could not find any responds about this issue but, I will let them try to figure out. This situation is like I have just got an McPro and sorry cannot be used the full screen choice. I say alright, play this out.

I tried with Chrome and that issue is not coming. But seriously after spending so much money this kind of issue is pain in ***.I was about to return the macbook but then thought let me try with other browser first. Now that issue is not coming since last 4 days.

Man this is terrible i have the same problem. i suggest calling APPLE CARE and explain your problem, i just called a couple of hours ago and they told me that they didn't have any record of persons having the same problem .... That Is weird because i see a lot of people trying to solve this problem and even posting om youtube this problem and maybe if we all call and report this we'll maybe have a solution. I did the same thing before posting the video on youtube. I talked with apple care and they connected to my macbook with screen sharing. I played multiple videos and that issue came with flickering black box in while screen while I was sharing my screen. I told them that issue is coming and they said yeah we can see that something is going on but we are not able to see which you are seeing currently at your end. That was really pathetic reply. I asked them what is the solution as I already had replaced my macbook three times due to that issue. I was on call with them for more than 3 hours and at last they told me that only option you have is to go to Apple store and talk with onsite engineers. It was really frustrating, how many times I need to go to apple store. Mine is new Macbook pro mid 2015 and somehow things are not going well in all the angles.

I feel terrible because i can't even ask for a new mbp because i'm currently living in Lima, Peru. And tell one thing man, are you having also problems with safari like crashes or anything unusual, because i for example am having some dificulties with loading some pages and all kinda weird unusual problems since i updated to yosemite 10.10.5 , the same for you?

I am not facing any safari crashed issue. After visiting so many forum I got to know that chrome is the better solution. With chrome i havent yet faced any full screen issue. By the way this was my first Mac book ever and seems like so many things are not smooth compare to Windows 10. I was hearing from long time that Mac OS has butter UI but seems like so many times while loading any effects it jerks. I didnt face anything like this in Windows while using just 4 GB ram laptop compare to 16 GB mbp. This is really weird. No doubt mbp would be far better but since 1 month I am using I havent feel anything very smooth which it supposed to be.
