YouTube white screen, black box in the corner

When on YouTube, on Safari, I go into fullscreen, and the screen is usually white, with a black box in the corner, and I have to end up refreshing. I am on a MacBook Pro Retina 2014 model. I have tried uninstalling my flash player, and reinstalling it, but it did nothing. I also tried to do the "run on 32-bit Safari" method, but I don't see the option to. Please help me!

Hi all,

I am on mac book air (mid 2012), I face the same issue, the display goes weird when I am in full screen on YouTube, but also when I am on i-Tunes playing a movie. I don't seem to be able to resolve it. I have restarted my computer and it is fine for a moment and then again same issue. The apple guys are really not helpful (as usual!!).

Anyone any idea?

thanks

J.

Hey, guys! Sorry I haven't been posting on this thread with updates and such.

I found that this problem went away for me, after the OS X El Capitan update. I completely forgot about the problem, because it just went away.

I would recommend, if you haven't already, updating to the newest OS, and see if the problem is fixed for you. If not, then I've got no idea!

Thanks for your input Olivia, but you seem to be one of the lucky few. I am actually facing this problem since I updated to El Capitan. After "downgrading to El Capitan" I had issues connecting to To my Xerox printer, and it is certainly not thanks to the Apple support team that the issue was resolved. The same goes here, no one of the Apple guys seems to know how to assist or to even care. This is exasperating!

Hello,

As a temporary solution, I threw together a small app in Automator/Applescript which basically loads Youtube in a new window with iPad as the user agent (long story short: Youtube behaves like it would on a landscape oriented iPad, with resizable window). I also made a service so it is possible to right click on any Youtube URL in Safari and "Watch on Youtube Max" (dull name, I have no creativity left), and of course the standalone app works as well.

1. Run installer (provide password when asked, due to installing services).

2. Run app from your Applications folder or

3. Use the Services context menu when selecting a Youtube URL in Safari.

I was half asleep when I made this, and I have not had the chance to test it any further, use on own risk (although it should be perfectly safe - after all it only opens Safari browser windows, which is already installed on any Mac).

I hope this will be resolved soon anyway 🙂

Cheers,

Andreas
