PagePro 1350W Mac compatible Driver

Hi folks,

I have a mixed setup at home, a half PC, half Mac network, but I find myself increasingly leaning more and more toward the Mac side. The main reason that stops me from discarding my old PC altogether is the fact that I cannot find a Mac compatible driver for my printer, a Konica Minolta PagePro 1350W. Does anybody know a way around this?

For what I can gather, the printer is using the
software I installed earlier as driver/filter, etc.,
and what you did in the end was adding the printer
queue directly into Darwin. Am I getting it right?

Right. The Foomatic-RIP, Ghostscript and the installer I provided constitute the driver/filter. The last part was adding a printer queue. This is normally done via Printer Setup Utility. It appears that you were trying to use "USB" for the device rather than selecting the actual printer listing at the bottom of the list. It can be very confusing. It is much better in Tiger.

With the information you provided from the Terminal response to /usr/libexec/cups/backend/usb, I was able to supply a direct command to add the printer queue.

Just a quick follow up to my own post. I have now added some basic documentation and the other printers that are supported by the min12xxw driver. It is not a universal binary at the moment, but hopefully it will at least provide some help to others. It is now available for download from <http://webpages.charter.net/mbroughtn/downloads/min12xxw-0.0.9.dmg>

The driver package is now a Universal Binary. It can be downloaded at: <http://webpages.charter.net/mbroughtn/downloads/min12xxw-0.0.9.U.dmg>

Supported printers are:
Minolta PagePro 1200W
Minolta PagePro 1250W
Minolta PagePro 1300W
Minolta PagePro 1350W
Minolta PagePro 1400W

Also, it may work with the Konica Minolta Page PRO 1380 MF which supposedly uses the same host based drivers as the 1350W.
