Health and Activity data not syncing

I've had my Apple Watch for about 24 hours and cannot get the Activity and Health data from my Apple Watch to sync with my iphone

The activity app just says "... To start using the app on your iPhone, first set up activity on your Apple Watch", which I have done... its not showing up as a source in the Health app on the iPhone... and whenever I enter data (birthday, gender, height and weight) in the Apple Watch App on my iPhone it doesn't save, it just goes back to "Not Set" whenever I exit the screen and come back.

I've tried soft resets and hard rests (of both devices), trying to change Progress... I don't really know what else to do

Anyone else had this problem or have any ideas??

Hi - try this:

On your iPhone, go to: Settings > Privacy > Motion & Fitness - check that Fitness Tracking is enabled and that Health is enabled.

On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > Privacy > Motion & Fitness - check that both Heart Rate and Fitness Tracking are enabled.

If these settings are already enabled, it may help to disable them, restart both devices and then enable them again. When restarting, turn both devices off first, then restart your iPhone before restarting your watch:

- To turn your watch off: press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider; drag it to turn off.

- To turn it back on: press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.

Turning the features off and restarting both the watch and the phone didn't work for me either.

But even if you don't have a watch shouldn't the iPhone 6s be processing info in the health and activity apps because it has the motion processor? Seems to me this is a problem with the iOS or the phone itself since the watch populates the data in the in-watch activity app. I'm guessing that my motion coprocessor doesn't work... Is there a way to test this ?

The Health app definitely should be getting the data from the coprocessor, but not the Activity app. The Activity app just gets data either from the Health app or the Watch.

I have a Fitbit as well that I have to wear for work and the Fitibit accesses the coprocessor data correctly (ie, it registers my step counts while carrying the iPhone). So, I think the coprocessor is fine. I think it's an iOS (ie, software) bug that is affecting some but not all of us.

Hmm...My health app is totally blank with no data and won't even let me save my sex date of birth height weight etc. When I set any of those settings and click the back button and click right back into it it's back to blank again.

I really think my new replacement iPhone 6s has a bad motion processor. I think I'm due for another wasted evening getting a new phone at the Genius Bar.

I fixed it. I erased my iPhone 6s and my apple watch. I then set the phone up as a new phone and the watch as a new watch. I did NOT use any iCloud backups. The phone fitness tracking works now. Will test out the watch tomorrow, but it shows up as a source now. All my birthdate, sex, height, weight data now save in all the apps.

I chatted with Apple online help and she seemed to think that my iCloud backup was corrupt. This could be the case, but it also could be a bug (my iCloud backup always got hung on the white screen of death) that prevents the full backup from completing.

Seems that I have the same issue and unfortunately a restore of either device will not work.

I have been having health app issues on my iPhone 6s since the upgrade to iOS 9.1. I have since had a replacement iPhone 6s and just recently bought my watch. Neither settings app for either device saves my details and restoring does not get it working either.

I firmly believe this is an iOS 9.1 issue

I have spent hours on this over two days. I have tried everything listed about. I made an appointment with the Genius Bar. A few hours before my appointment, I decided to call Apple Care - Technical Support. FINALLY FIXED!

iPhone on iOS 9.1, Watch on OS2. Tried various forms of iCloud backup (OTA), iTunes Backup (Cable), iCloud Backup (via iTunes and a cable). The ONLY method where I was able to get Activity Data to sync was by completely wiping the phone, setting it up as new, and doing the same with the Watch.

So here was my dilemma. I have a TON of apps and a specific organization of the apps/folders, photos, etc. The WHOLE reason why we use an iCloud Restore or and iTunes Restore right?? To get the phone back to the state of which we have it perfectly set. I know that the Genius Bar was going to recommend to start over, setup as new. I wasn't having this.

Here is what I concluded to: 1.) The Activity App was corrupt in a sense that it was working fine, but was just not synching nicely.

After speaking with Apple Care, here is what they suggested. They said that it was possible that the OS was corrupt, specifically, the Activity App. Instructions were... 1.) Backup iPhone via iTunes and using a Lightning Cable. 2.) Put phone in recovery mode. 3.) Update and Restore iPhone to latest OS (at this time is 9.1). 4.) When phone restore is complete, select "Restore from iTunes Backup" and select the backup you just created. 5.) Pair Apple Watch.

Open Activity App -> VOILA!! Data is synching!!

Phone has a clean install of iOS 9.1 WITH all my apps, layout, text messages, and everything else that comes with a restore... except a CLEAN iOS Install.

Hope this helps!
