Health and Activity data not syncing

I've had my Apple Watch for about 24 hours and cannot get the Activity and Health data from my Apple Watch to sync with my iphone

The activity app just says "... To start using the app on your iPhone, first set up activity on your Apple Watch", which I have done... its not showing up as a source in the Health app on the iPhone... and whenever I enter data (birthday, gender, height and weight) in the Apple Watch App on my iPhone it doesn't save, it just goes back to "Not Set" whenever I exit the screen and come back.

I've tried soft resets and hard rests (of both devices), trying to change Progress... I don't really know what else to do

Anyone else had this problem or have any ideas??

Have you tried setting up the phone as if new? That worked for me...see my previous post. It's really not as bad as I thought it would be and I really like not having all that "extra" stuff on there (I've been an iPhone user since the 3GS).

Once you log into iCloud most of everything comes back: Contacts, calendar, notes, photos, etc. You just need to manually download your apps and change all the settings for the phone. It can be tedious, but it's not horrible. I was initially upset my iMessages / texts didn't come back, but after a week or so I don't care one bit.

I'm having this same issue on watch OS 2 and iPhone 9.1 and I've gone ahead and tried everything recommended by Jonathan UK at the top of this thread short of wiping the phone and restoring it. None of it helped, so don't waste your time!

If you want to solve this, it would appear that you must backup, wipe completely, and restore your iPhone. Sad indeed to spend that many hours just to get the phone show activity.

OK I tried every solution in this thread and nothing worked for me, except the hard way:

Reset (wipe) both devices and set them up as new devices and don't restore from iCloud or iTunes backup.

  • Apple Watch: Settings -> General -> Reset
  • iPhone: Settings -> General -> Erase all Content and Settings
  • Pair them

To be extra safe, you should reset the iPhone via iTunes:

Put iPhone into recovery mode -> Restore and Update

These steps where proposed by an Apple Tier 2 Support technician after he did an remote hardware analysis of my iPhone 6s Plus.

To check if your Motion Processor is working:

  1. Go to Mail App
  2. Delete an unimportant message
  3. Shake your phone

If the Undo alert message pops up, you can be sure the motion sensor is ok.

I have the same problem, with a new apple watch (OS 2.1) and an iphone 6s (iOS 9.2).

Everything works fine, except synchronising data to the health and activity app..

I allready tried everything that's said in here, but the problem still exists..

I was wondering if this could be a hardware problem?

Or is it just the software that needs a new (bugfree) update?

Apple, please help!

I wanted to note that I am also having this exact issue on 9.2 I have spent hours talking with Apple. Restoring my phone and watch many times. Using the computer and iCloud. New and backup on the watch.

The are sending me a new phone, I'll report back if it fixes it. Cause this it would be a hardware issue.

I have not restarted the phone from scratch and left it that way. There is a lot I don't want to lose, and though I use the health features a lot, I would prefer to keep my data over the health features.

I have been trying all afternoon to download 9.2.1 from the developer site though, to try it. And It is not working. The download stales out across a few computers. I got it to go once and the zip file turned out to be corrupt.

Alright,

I fixed it! It took a lot of effort and time but I fixed it.

So there is a few more details past what has been said on this forum to fix this issue. But, I was able to KEEP my data. Well everything but the Health stuff. But Apps, messages and the rest are intact with the restore.

The Steps I took to fix it are:

0) Delete all back ups on your computer for this device.

1) Back up your phone to its host computer, making sure that it is NOT an encrypted back-up. This is so it will NOT back up the health data.

2) Place the phone in DFU mode

a) turn off phone

b) hold down the home button

c) while holding down the home button plug the cable in and continue to hold down until iTunes prompt that it is in restore mode.

3) Restore as new, wipe everything. Do not click update

4) Let it sit for a really long time. Clicking next every now and then.

5) When asks if you care to restore, click sure. It should be ok.

6) While all this is going on you should erase your watch.

7) When all is done on your phone, you can pair your watch. But do it as a brand new watch.

8) Have a beer, you earned it.

So, I hit about every road block there was. I truly think this might be the end all fix for this, as it does allow your to keep most everything intact. But After restoring my phone about 5 times the past 48 hours(I was up late for new years anyways). I think that this is the only way to get it done, these exact steps.

Hope this helps!
