Help Portfoward

So i have been trying to port forward a airport extreme for 2 years, every time failing. i use my local ip address and use the right ports, but no one else can connect to my game. my friend's father is a security freak so we cant use hamachi. im on a windows vista pc. i want to use it for minecraft and magicite (An indie game). ive heard something about a dhcp Id reservation. the ports are 7777 (magicite port number) and of corse my ip is what is should be. thanks.

And I can't directly connect pc to it became it is in a very place to reach could go check on the make and model. 4 ports

If the cable modem is a router.. 4ports suggests it is.. then it should also have wireless.. please turn on the wireless in the cable router and use that for your PC running minecraft.

I am not helped a lot by your picture.. it looks like one massive blur.. a model number from the base would be far more use.

How would I figure out my broad band?

You are on cable.. now we know.

Also, where would i check the ip you're talking about? With ipconfig? What would it be under in ipconfig?

In windows open a command window.. and type the command

ipconfig /all

When you don't follow something google it.

when I google.. "how to find ipconfig"

The first post says.

Go to the start menu and select Run.... Then type cmd in the box and click OK. At the C:\> prompt type ipconfig . Then press Enter.May 18, 2010

IPConfig in Windows XP | OIT Website

That is how you find stuff out.. google it.

If the computer is too far away to plug into the cable modem.. then use wireless.. or if it does not use wireless.. please explain how you have it connected to the network now.

Remove the TC.. TC= Time Capsule. completely remove it from the network.. plug the computer into the modem with a long cord.. go and buy a longer cord if you don't have one.. or use wireless... and then see how you go. All port forwarding must be setup in your cable router.. please look up the model and google minecraft port forwarding with the model number of your router.

I cannot support port forwarding in routers other than apple.

Once you do all this.. you can put your Time Capsule. (TC for short) back into the network.. it has to be in bridge mode.

To preempt the next question.

You bridge the TC by selecting bridge in the airport utility.. which on windows is messy to say the least.

Don't you have an ipad or iphone.. use the airport utility for iOS.

Anyway I am able to show aprox how it looks in v5.6 utility.

Internet tab.

Connection sharing.. and pick Off (bridge mode).

The TC will then take an IP in the same range as the router. and it will begin to work correctly instead of double NAT.

Ubee make many models.. what model is yours??

Some are pure modems.. others are modem routers.. you mentioned it had 4 ports.. if so it is a router.

If your Ubee is a router.

Remove the Apple router from the network.. plug by long ethernet cord or connect the minecraft machine to the Ubee by wireless.. and setup port forwarding in the Ubee router.

Once this is done and working plug the apple router back into the Ubee in bridge mode.. it will take no part in the routing or port forwarding.

If your Ubee is a modem only

If it is not a router and actually only has one ethernet port.. please buy a new router.. the Apple router is unsuitable for your gaming

(or I may not live long enough to provide all the instructions required to complete the Apple setup. )

A suitable router is TP-Link WR1043NDv2

It costs about $50.. and you will find it super easy to setup because you are using PC not Mac for your server.

The Apple router can be bridged and plugged into the TP-Link for wireless and backups for Mac clients.

Your modem is a full service router.

The manual has all the info you need.

https://www.timewarnercable.com/content/dam/residential/pdfs/support/WirelessRou ters/Ubee_DVW3201B_v9.8.3012_D1_Subscrib…

From p47 to about 52 it gives you all the info on how to do port forwarding.

i have also connected to the website that i need to portforward but there is no "gateway" tab.

The gateway is the router.

If it is not there it is not required.

how would i disconnect the TC from the network?

Power it off and unplug it..

It would then be disconnected.

Hi, i was just told from the time warner cable support that the only way i can port-forward is with the AE. Once again the port is correct but still not open, im using the right ip. i currently have the internet setting on the AE to "Share a public IP address" under NAT the default host hasnt been set and the "Enable NAT Port Mapping protocol" box is checked. thanks
