iCloud needs to repair to work with Outlook 2016

I've recently installed Office 2016 and iCloud 4.1. When I open iCloud on the Windows System Tray, it comes up with an error that states.

When I click 'Open Programs and Features' and click iCloud and 'Repair', it runs through the process and then I'm prompted to restart my PC. After I complete this, I log back into iCloud and the window to Repair shows up again.

I've uninstalled iCloud and Outlook 2016 and re-installed, but that doesn't work.

I have iCloud 4.2 and Outlook 2016 installed on another PC and it works fine.

Any Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This update hasn't solved the problem for me.

Windows 7, Outlook 2016, iCloud for Windows 5.1 -> Not playing ball

Still the same error message posted at the beginning of this thread. What a joke, Outlook 2016 has been out for nearly 3 months, what are they playing at?

James,

I just installed the update on my Windows 10 machine running Outlook 2016. I was expecting the same result as you, but, to my great surprise (and relief!), iCloud for Windows is fully functional on my machine now. Wish I could give you some direction to achieve the same result but I didn't have to do any tricks to install or configure. It just worked.

Thanks, Apple, by the way, for finally addressing this issue, albeit not a solution for all users.

James: I had one problem with my Windows X Desktop not connecting iCloud to Outlook. What I did after I installed the 5.1 iCloud Update was unchecked Contacts, Calendars, and Tasks with Outlook. Sign out and back into iCloud, and then checked the Contacts, Calendars, and Tasks with Outlook box again. This did a full import into Outlook 2016 and now I have it working on all my devices.

Hopefully this helps for you, let me know!

I installed iCloud 5.1 on two computers, one liked it, the other didn't. It turned out that one had a full set of contacts already in Outlook. I simply manually deselected synchronising the contacts, and, voila, it ran fine. Counterintuitive is the setting, it does in fact sync contacts, but it doesn't try to combine them on installation.
