Will the apple pencil work on ipad air 2

I purchased an ipad air 2 for drawing but found that there are hardly any pressure sensitive stylus that work with it. Does anyone have any idea if the new apple pencil for the ipad pro will work for ipad air 2?

I'd be curious to see how many current iPad users adopt the stylus. I bought my iPad because it didn't need add ons and can't see the use for them now.

With the way the stylus worked on the iPads prior to the iPad Pro, I must agree with you.

Having watch the presentation of the iPad Pro and saw how the stylus works on it, I must disagree with you. I think plenty of people that spring for the iPad Pro will also get the Apple Pencil. It works at a totally different level to any stylus before it. It gives far more functionality for creative uses.

If you're having difficulty with precision with the JotTouch, I would suggest trying ProCreate. I use the JotTouch 4 with an iPad Air, and found that a number of the drawing apps seem to have an annoying offset with a stylus. Sketchbook is (or was, haven't tried in awhile) really bad in this regard, but Procreate feels dead on, to the point that I'm not actively thinking about pen position. I'm just drawing.

Yes, very good. You found the product page. I read it. But that doesn't mean the tech in the Air 2 wouldn't be the same as the Pro or compatible in some way. Other than saying iPad Pro a lot in the copy, it doesn't mean there isn't compatible tech on something current like the iPad Air 2. So yes, you do assume. Perhaps Apple will limit it with software, or maybe there is something drastically different in the screen or other hardware, but Apple makes claims all the time that everything is new and innovative when they only make a few changes.

The screen on the Pro is a completely different design than current iPads. The compatibility of the Pencil is hardware based. It isn't based on Apple placing a "limit" with software.

No, you have it backwards. At the very end of the article (and throughout as you mention) it says the product in the Apple Pencil for iPad Pro. It is quite clear and I'll take their word for it. You are assuming (or hoping) that those labels are meaningless and when you buy one it will work on an iPad Air 2. And when it doesn't you will probably complain about it.
