ios9 - can't add yahoo password

I can't complete the dialogue for re-adding my yahoo password for email and contacts. The setting screen for mail passwords has changed in ios9. Yahoo sucessfully validates the password, but it never seems to get stored in ios9.

Any ideas? Thanks.

iOS 9.01 update broke Yahoo Mail again this morning. Adding it through "Other Account" got me working again. I had deleted it on Monday when my regular account came back to life.

I can get Yahoo POP mail working on my iPad where I don't want it but not on my iMac where I do. AOL POP mail has worked just fine but it doesn't host my domain.

I need to find another hosting company -- this is ridiculous. I pay way too much to Yahoo for terrible service.

The workaround works just fine in iOS 9.01.

I had deleted the workaround on Monday when Yahoo mail started working again. When it failed with the 9.01 update, I redid it and it's fine. The original Yahoo mailbox is still not working.

The way to check is to look at your mailboxes. If you see the same number of unread email in both boxes, everything is working again. Right now I'm seeing it only in the Other Account In box.

Last Friday my yahoo email decided to stop working on my iPad2. When I went into email a message would pop up cannot get mail. it said my username or password was incorrect. I therefore went into yahoo via a web page and the username and password were correct. I could acces my email. I checked my details in case there was anything untoward but all looked OK. So I go back to re-enter my password knowing it is correct.

I then get this message:-

Uh-Oh!

I tried to recover but again it didn't like what I entered.

I am glad I read this post and the threads, as I have now added my account and can see my emails on the iPad. I will leave my old account in hope that Yahoo resolves.

Thanks

So... I had to do all these steps with my iphone 6 back when I first got the phone - has it been a year now? These steps worked fine. My wife's phone, just today, stopped receiving her business emails (we have our own domain name so it's a business account) and I've tried to add it with every recommendation here - and she's still just receiving her 'yahoo' emails and not her 'business' emails. Frustrating. I've deleted, re-provisioned, changed server ports, everything... and nothing. If I send an email, she has the choice of her 'business' email address but not receiving any of them. Anyone come up with an alternate solution for this? p.s. for the past 2 years I've threatened to transfer my domain name and find a new email host and I've chickened out. I don't like the functionality of google, and WAS going to godaddy for the transfer and use their email services but scares me... maybe I should just sunset the business account and start over - seems like a major PITA but Yahoo is just SO horrible.

This works in iOS 9.01. Here it is, screen by screen, exactly as you will see it.

1. Go to Settings

2. Then select "Mails, Contacts, and Calendars"

3. Add account

4. Select "Other" and select "Add Mail Account"

Name: Your Name

Email: Your business email address: name@yourdomain.com

Password: password for your business email

Description: will autofill from your business domain

5. Select "Next"

6. It defaults to IMAP at the top of the screen – the bar is blue – but you can also select POP. The following is for IMAP only.

INCOMING MAIL SERVER

Host Name: imap.mail.yahoo.com

User name: Your business email address: name@yourdomain.com

Password: password for your business email

OUTGOING MAIL SERVER

Host Name: smtp.mail.yahoo.com

User name: Your business email address: name@yourdomain.com

Password: password for your business email

7. Select "Next"

8. Slide Mail and Notes to ON

9. Save

When you check email, nothing will display till you go to your Mailboxes and select one or more.

Still doesn't work for me. keeps saying user name or password for imap.mail.yahoo.com is incorrect.

I've been trying this for days now. the update 9.01 really messed it up, and Apple knows it. updated today to 9.02, and retried your instructions above, with the same no-luck.

I'm sure I've got the correct password. I just double checked it by logging out my email on my laptop, and relogged in.
