iOS9 & iTunes 11.4 warning

I am running 10.6.8. My iTunes version is 11.4. I just updated my iPhone to iOS 9. The phone updated just fine, however it is no longer accessible through iTunes.

"iPhone cannot be used because it requires a newer version of iTunes. Go to www.itunes.com to donwload the latest version of iTunes."

Yeah Dave,

... its a real drag that Apple made a great BS with the latest update iOS9.02 ... so many users are cast out, stuck with the same problem. Up to now NO reaction of the Apple engeneers or marketing. They want to SELL not to SUPPORT... thats it.

I gladly hope for Apple to come up with a solution for us users soon, because if not i´m gone and definately buying another Android which doesnt give this kind of BS on my older Intel MacPro (which btw. had cost me a few thousand bucks when i bought it new...).

Apart from that i wanted to point out for you (and others in the same situation) maybe a little kind of help for "in between". For the meantime i did lots of internet-research and found at least a "little soloution" to get my iPhone running again containing at least my adressbook again (still no images, no music nothing else, no sync), but i can at least use it as a phone and communication tool again.

So i´ll point you to read my advices on how you can get back your adressbook to use your phone again right here:

Hot to restore adresses on iPhones/iPads which are stuck not syncing on older 10.6.8-systems or iTunes 11.4

Hope this will help out some users (like you) who are stuck in the same situation until Apple finally comes up with a solution (lets all hope for the new iOS9.1 that hopefully contains a fix for all of our sync problems on older machines).

Again, if this is not the case i will also advice all my friends that use iPhones to change to products other than Apple-phones, as this thing happened here is an absolutely inacceptable mistake.

Good luck!

Well, i was trying to wait for the solution coming up with the new iOS9.1-update - hoping that APPLE would really take the problems of its users serious.

It seems they dont, as nothing of the "no sync" problems have changed at all.

I was now doing the iOS9.1-update OTA to avoid any new conflicts wit iTunes 11.4.

But after the update still iTunes keeps telling me that i should update to the latest version. So it appears that by doing this "one dangerous update" with iTunes before all doors are locked forever!

This REALLY annoys and frustrates me as i had the slight hope that with the new update these problems would have been wiped.

But it seems that APPLE has become too arrogant to listen to its Users anymore, just looking at the dollar-sign in their eyes...

So i am done with that. I took days and weeks to restore my (actual) iPhone 5 which now no longer is supported by Apple even if it should, according to their own compatibility list. So i have no chance else but to change over to use an Android-phone now which dont appear with such incredible devastating limitations for older APPLE-machines.

Well, yes guys, thats the way it goes. After 25 years of using APPLE products for good, spending thousands of dollars on (once before) great hard- and software i am now beeing forced to leave the APPLE-system as it refuses to allow me to work with it as I WOULD LIKE TO, not as APPLE WANTS ME TO DO it. What a shame. A company who has once been the best in the world is starting to spit out its loyalest users by arrogance and ignorance... what a pity.

Sorry, see you later guys, i´m done with APPLE 😠😟

I've been doing exactly the same thing to avoid using the mess that is iTunes 12... however, I did a really stupid thing and updated my iPhone 6 to 'you-know-what-can't-be-discussed-here'.... I thought that by doing it again as OTA update it will be fine, but after the upgrade completed iTunes 11 refused to recognise the phone (which by the way was working perfectly fine on 9.2, meaning Apple is really screwing us to move to 12, there's no performance / feature reason for that). As you said it was only a matter of time when they close this loophole...

I have tried to get used to iTunes 12 over the past few days but I can't:/ On Mavericks it just looks absolutely horrible - large, empty white spaces, tiny fonts, messed up views, dysfunctional controls, missing side bar ... I could go on till the cows come home Have downgraded to iTunes 11 and 1) will rather buy the bullet and pay for iCloud storage for iPhone backup than use iTunes 12, 2) going to dig out my older iPod and start using that for music instead.

Thank you Apple, you've reached new a low!
