I had the same problem, go into settings and change the region to USA and reboot it worked a treat and the news icon is there.. its very good.
I believe the UK will get it in a day or so , so you can always change your region back to UK later
Hope this helps
Colin
It is a bug - the News App must be lurking somewhere because I get News items when I swipe right from the home screen. The news items are relevant to the UK but seem to come mostly from the Telegraph or Sky news. I'd like to be able to redress the balance!
Hi folks. Apple says that not all apps and features are available in all countries. At this time news is available in the US. For those of you who have iPods and iPads you might not see the low power mode feature at this time but you can contact apple and ask when the low power mode feature will be available on those devices. Do the same thing if you're wondering about new ringtones and wall papers.
HI, yes this seems obvious from all the postings. However, do Apple say why things work in some countries and not others? It seems pretty random and, as I said earlier, in the UK I get UK news links on the 'suggestions' screen, so it must be there somewhere. I'm not about to pretend I'm in America to get this app though. I just find it annoying! When I tried to question Apple about it, they wanted to charge me £25, so maybe that's their game!
Hi, I have two iPhone 6 all on iOS9.1. One is for company use and one is personal use. However, only the company phone has News, whereas my personal phone has not. Spooky. I am from Australia and clearly Australia is one of the roll out locations for News. Tried restored iOS 9.1 to personal phone and no luck. Any help?
I think you have the country/region set to Canada on your personal iPhone 6. You should change the country/region to Australia. Then the news app should appear on your home screen. If that doesn’t work, you can contact apple here: http://www.apple.com/contact/
Hello team, I updated to iOS 9.2 on my iPhone 5S a few days ago and the news app didn't come with it. Does anyone know why? Also, does anyone know when the news app will be available in Canada? I can't wait!

Because, as has been stated here more than 10 times: it is not available in your region. And, no, nobody here would know when it will be available in Canada.
I am in the US. I have never messed with my region settings and I have this problem.
I note that while the app was missing, I was able to go to the App Store, search for the app, and click on "open". The app would open though it was nowhere on my phone. I lived in this mode for a week.
....then I found this thread....
I solved it however, based on info in this thread. I changed my region to Unite Arab Emirates (listed close to the Unite States). Then I changed it back to Unite States, and the app reappeared.
What did you type in order to search for the news app in the app store?
Just this word: News.
It knew it is installed, and for some reason missing from the screen. The only option was to "open", not to download.
Thank you. I noticed that my iPad went blank for a while, and I rebooted it the news app disappeared. I did changed my location to USA, now the news app is on my iPad. Will it disappear if I changed to Australia??
Thank you
I've had this problem ever since an update in IOS 9. I'm in California with my region set to, of course, US. I've tried changing regions and searching in the app store for Apple News (it doesn't show up). I thought the upgrade to IOS 10 would kickstart it, but no. This is really kinda nuts.
Thanks for posting and for the replies! I changed my regional setting to the European country where I live so apps like Compass would use metric units and all of a sudden I couldn't find the News app. It wasn't even on the App Store even though I use the US App Store. Strange!
Oh well, I guess I'll have to dust off my knowledge the Imperial System once again. It'll be useful when I visit the US (and the UK??)
